Its amazing how people can fault Mikey DiPietro in that game.

Was even listening to goalie expert Kevin Woodley of In goal magazine and basically said, Mikey was thrown into a difficult situation against a very good NHL team and the impact of not playing a lot of games in the past two years. Its so unfair to expect for him to develop and mature his game with the given circumstances

I’m still hopeful for DiPietro, but he’s gotta show that he’s also making progress too.

He’s still very young, so there’s a lot of time left, but there comes a time when the organization has to decide whether to give him the opportunity to back up, or cut him loose. He’s waiver eligible eventually. We can’t keep him forever, and he’s gotta prove that he’s capable of playing in the NHL eventually too.

Hope martin plays amazing, will increase his trade value :P

You know what would be the most Edmonton Oiler thing to happen?

They trade for Martin, and then Martin plays so poorly behind the non-existent defense of the Oilers, that they waive him, and Vancouver picks him up again. HAHAHA

I am not feeling very optimistic tonight. But maybe the lotto line catches fire? Ughh covid be getting us 2 seasons in a row. Hopefully when the whole team is back together they can go on a tear right before the playoffs.

I’m a fan, so I’m hopeful that they have a chance to win. Will they? Like you, I’m not hopeful. But maybe the team comes together and plays for Martin.

If I had to predict the score tonight, I say it’s going to be 4-1 Edmonton.

Love the 2nd line but not a fan of the 3rd and 4th. Hogs and Podz with Dickinson imo but Bruce is a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than me.

Just a quick, morning-glance at these lines, appears they're trying to spread out speedsters & lumps. Vs Edm, need some speed & defensive-conscience on every line, I'd guess?

Telling a player you're not going to play him despite his being healthy and our needing him wouldn't go well, I'm almost certain something like that would leak. At that point you're not honoring the clause he negotiated, you're strongarming him into a move.

If that got out future UFA's might have second thoughts.

Halak isn't playing now. At 36 I would think he wants another crack at a CUP. He must have thought he could beat Demko out of the #1 goalie spot when he signed. At the very least he probably expected to play a lot more. A contract is a contract but there are no guarantees on playing. I doubt it would impact signing UFA's. If nothing else I think JB had a great rep for integrity in the hockey world. If Rutherford is approached over Halak I think Halak should be made aware and he can say yes/no.

While she might not have final say on it this is exactly the kind of thing that Émelie won’t allow to happen on her watch.

Was one thing he always kept at a high standard.   Was ripped for it all throughout the early stages of his time with us too (and some of that even persists now) right down to Edler.  Hopefully that capital remains intact for when we need UFAs on good contracts in the future.

Koskinen in net tonight, pretty sure we score at least 9 goals.

Canucks have been getting close to 40 shots a game. High tempo can be met by the Oilers but their d-core struggles at times. Horvat and Garland and now Pearson are out. That is a whole top 6 line. That hurts. Canucks get the first goal then look out.

40 shots a game, Koskinen lets in 1 goal on every 2 shots = 20 goals for the Canucks this game!!
