Not sure why they are waiving him but i would assume someone grabs him. Has to be an upgrade over Hunt. Ilya Mikheyev Posted January 27, 2022 Share Posted January 27, 2022 Wouldn't be against a Niku claim as a potential upgrade on Hunt, but don't think an offensive LHD is what the Canucks need for D depth right now. They just need a solid, Jordie Benn LHD type who can play a reliable shift IMO. If I were GM I'd rather just give Rathbone some NHL games rather than claim Niku. Fantenberg and Kyle Burroughs have also been solid recent players in those roles IMO. On the other hand, Brad Hunt on a team with two LHD PP QBs already, hasn't really been effective IMO.
