Popular Post Junkyard Dog
Not surprised teams are interested. I doubt we trade him. He's cost controlled and if we are taking a step back he still fits our age group afterwards. For me it would literally have to be a Miller-like return. Popular Post Smashian Kassian
Man trading him already would suck. If they trade Miller AND Garland we are really setting ourselves back a number of years in regards to being competitive. 1 1 1

I wonder if the teams are trying to test the waters and seeing if they can take advantage of a new GM Patrik Allvin. It's a good thing that Jim Rutherford is there to support. 4 3

I think a bit more has to be done even if we trade Miller but at that point you could try to trade some of the higher cap-hit role/support players if you can. Alflives
Garland for a similar aged top pair right shot D to play with The Huggable One would work. 1 1

Close to a Miller-like return given his cap hit and performance.
Chris12345
I like it. Love that JR will change it up. They need cap space and d sounds like they are looking at everything.

Literally a Miller-like return personally. He's cost controlled for four more seasons after this and just entering his prime. Heart and soul type of guy. 5
Popular Post Provost
Ya, I am sure it is happening… but it would have to be a big overpayment. He is literally what we would want in return for a trade. Young, fast, skilled, and relentless… good at both ends of the rink. He is signed to a really nice value contract all through his prime and it has no downside years on the back end to make us leery of a drop off. He is a piece we add to and not remove. We aren’t going into a full rebuild, we are swapping out a few players to try to be better in the short and long term. If it was a pure hockey trade, then maybe. Say if Miller was returning a bunch of forwards and futures… swapping Garland for Carlo could make sense as an example. A similar level cost controlled young player. I don’t want to lose our angry little elf! Edited January 30, 2022 by Provost 2 1 4

Garland's a guy I'd prefer to keep, I like him for the reasons others are huge fans of Miller. Different player, but he plays with similar drive, particularly for a smaller player. Having a guy like Garland on the team is part of why I'm comfortable with Miller going. And as you said, his age fits if they see themselves a few years out. stawns
It does appear they could be going full rebuild, but it's more like full re-tool. Rebuilding teams aim for draft picks, the Canucks would be aiming for young roster players and almost ready prospects who will be able to step in next year. However, I think Garland fits the former definition so it seems like a lateral move unless the return is something you can't turn down. He'd be a great piece for a team like the Hurricanes though. No reason for us to trade him for anything but that. If we decide to part from Miller and we take a minor short step back, Garland will still be here by the time when we move forward as a veteran piece and leader on the team. King Heffy
Good young piece on a cost-controlled contract. I'd listen to offers on any of our players, but I'd need a hell of an overpayment to move him if it was my call. 2
Popular Post BertaNuck
Good player, plays bigger than he is but I believe playoffs would be different and his size would show. we need to get bigger 1 3
