Thatcher Demko made 31 saves on Jan. 18 in Nashville as the Canucks ended a gruelling five-game road trip against elite teams with a 3-1 victory. With Bo Horvat, Conor Garland and backup stopper Jaroslav Halak in COVID-19 protocol, the All-Star Game-bound starter wasn’t afforded a rare night off and put in another stellar performance to help rally the club from a 1-0 deficit. Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson and Juho Lammikko provided the offence and Demko added confidence that the Canucks can slog through COVID-19 absences.

Juulsen has impressed me, and he a RD. Could he make the roster next season? I don't see why not, he's still young (24) and he should only get better with the more NHL ice time he sees. He's also got size and some smarts.

I said on his thread, I think if he can get into a stretch where he's not constantly injured, his core talent which had him forecasted as a top 4 RD in his draft year, might just come out and we get a really nice surprise.

 

He's impressed me as well. I think in his previous callup, he was trying to do too much and maybe coaching sat him down and asked him to just simplify until he got really comfortable with his game again.

 

I think he may very well be a regular next season.

I said this in the last game day thread - Juulsen definitely has the physical tools of a former 1st-rounder. 

Good size, quick fluid movements (if not the fastest skater), and decent hands. 

 

Hamonic and L. Schenn are great examples of guys leaning on their foundational skills to succeed (and maintain a role in the league), while never quite reaching their full potential. If he could turn out like one of those guys, that could be useful for sure.
