Flames are up 4-2, with about 7 minutes to go in the third.

Tanev and Gudbranson both have goals tonight. Gudbranson

also had a fight.

Those are the types of players that thrive under Sutter.

Still think things are going way too well for Calgary. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Dunno, if Calgary wins tonight they'll be one point behind Vegas with three games in hand. Whatever spell they were going through hasn't been the norm this season.

If they make the playoffs, and they likely do as the first or second divisional team, they're built in a way that's going to give plenty of western teams trouble come playoff time.

Still think they’re squeezing way too much out of that D core and haven’t faced any adversity injury wise.

But maybe that just shows how good of a coach Sutter is. Who knows?

Maybe, but Tanev's also been healthy under Sutter whereas he was a bandaid in Vancouver. If Tanev can be durable in that environment I'm not shocked the rest of their D has been healthy.

They're a tough group, there aren't exactly many teams out there I see trying to take liberties with them physically.

7 of the last 9 games they've scored 4 goals or more. They've won 8 of the last 9 and that 1 loss was of the tail end of a back to back, their 3rd game in 4 nights to the Blues.

Simply put they are the hottest team in the league atm. They have guys having breakout, bounceback and career years. This all without Monahan returning to form and Dube having an off-year. They could trade Monahan and add someone big this year. They have their 1st and two 2nds and many rank as a mid-tier prospect pool in the NHL. Probably why they were in on Miller.

Darryl Sutter wants his defensemen to contribute more to the team's offense.

He recently stated that good teams usually get 35 or more goals from their

defensemen over the season.

I think Calgary's defensemen have scored 22 goals so far this season. Vancouver's

defensemen have contributed 11 goals so far.

Avs D have scored 44 goals this year. 4th team to do that in NHL history at this point in the season(45 games played).

Which is why they need to make room for Rathbone.

Like how weak is his defensive game that his offense cant outweigh it?

Is it much weaker than Hunt or some of our other D who have contributed to large shot totals against?

I say give him a try. Another elite skating D man that can push offense could be big for us.
