In my daydreaming I took this fantasy to the next level!  We acquire a first rounder via trade (Miller or Boeser or whoever!) and it wins the Bedard lottery randomly while we still make the playoffs that year.

*Sigh* if only

and Bettman retroactively says nyet to the trade that got us that draft pick, thus giving the pick back to the other team

Sure seems that way doesn't it? It's a lucky year if we don't move down, moving up is a completely different animal.

Moving... up?

I'm sorry as a Canucks fan I'm not sure what this means could you elaborate?

I predict

Horvat stays 8x6

Miller stays… until draft/next deadline

Boeser stays 6x6-7

Garland Traded by deadline

Motte Traded by deadline :(

Halak Traded by deadline

Dickinson Traded at draft

And no, this group won’t be tanking.  They will be balancing, which could lead to quick turnaround if done correctly.

Now you can only move up 10 spots. So we need to finish 22nd-32nd in the league to have a chance.

I think it's possible without selling everyone.

I hope we finally win the 1st overall pick. That would expedite the retool.

yeah and I'd be more inclined to go and buy a real lottery ticket, I'm sure i'd stand a better chance of winning opposed to Canuck luck.

Quite the fantasy. A team trading for Miller is unlikely to be returning a top 20 pick, let alone top 10 or 5.

Yep and it requires us getting a 1st in next year's draft rather than this one.

What can I say?  If I'm gonna dream I might as well dream big!
