higgyfan
This contract makes me smile. Here you have a guy picked in the 6th round, was 25yrs when he jumped to the NHL and has continued to play in the league for 10yrs. Now, at 33yrs he is still wanted by one of the best teams in the league. He's a shining beacon for the bottom 6 players that have to work their arses of, play a hard physical game, but also bring the offensive/defensive skills well enough to stay in the NHL. 1

Quality person too. I remember that Oilers post game interview where Gene Pricipe showed him a clip of his family reacting to his goal in STL when he was an Oiler. He starting crying after seeing his family react to his goal since he was away from them and missed them a lot. Pretty much showed his quality as a person there. 1 1

I seem to have counted a couple of times he was traded and played on 2 teams in 1 year.

Coconuts
Cheap contract with a team he just won back to back cups with, in a tax friendly state. Sweetheart deal, another team likely pays more.

iinatcc
Now if people ask why many of us think Benning overpayed in signing players this is exhibit A why

Well I admit Canucks would pay a bit more but a typical Benning contract would be 2 Million 3 years
