With the canucks needing cap space. I know we just got him this year but he’s not producing for the price he’s being paid. What would you want back at the trade deadline for him? Let me know your thoughts.

Someone can have him for free and i’ll retain 25 percent

at this point nothing.. no one is going to give u anything for dickinson other than a bad contract of their own. i bet he's a candidate for a buy out this season or next.. he was brought in as a defensive specialist that can kill PK.. his struggles with winning the faceoff have a direct effect at struggles at killing PK.

Dickinson has definitely had a tough year. But he got traded for the first time in his career, to a team that was struggling, and then had a coaching change. There's a decent chance he'll be improved next year. Since this year most likely is a write-off, it makes more sense to just to hope for improvement rather than spend assets to get rid of him.

We need a decent checking center to help accentuate his skills (he’s a defensive winger & any hope of turning him into a defensive center was sheer folly).

So JB got him for what, a 3rd if I remember correctly, and now he's got both some term and dollar value attached to him on a contract he's not performing up to.  So maybe a 5th with us retaining is the best, then at that price you have to ask is that worth it or do we just try to throw some good coaching at him and hope he improves?

even in his second year in a canucks jersey he will remain the type of player he is. Dickinson had played in Dallas up and down the line-up mostly on the wing. He played very well defensively but it should have been clear to Canucks pro scouts and Jim Benning that he does not drive offense.

Canucks needed a 3 C in the offseason, strong in faceoffs and able to provide some secondary scoring on the 3rd line. On the day Canucks announced the signing I wrote that he is not fit, because Canucks won't get the offensive game from Dickinson as 3C.

One of the main reason why Canucks teams struggled heavily scoring goals over the last seasons was that they had a defensive center in Sutter who provided not the secondary scoring you need as team to make the playoffs. Jim Benning , the pro scouts and the advisors made the same mistake again in signing a defensive first player for the 3C role. Even for me as an fan with only average hockey knowledge it was clear at the date of the signing that he is not the type of player the Canucks need. I do not know what all these highly paid hockey people in the front office and the pro scouts are doing all day long and I have no clue if these people have the brainpower to assess correctly what type of player is needed and if the potential player on the market fits the bill.

Just another example of the shortcomings in the Benning era. Like Nate Schmidt another player who does not fit in. I guess we all have to thank Jim Benning for building a non-playoff team. Still lots of user here trying to defend Jim and his great signings in the offseason ( with Dickinson, Poolman ...).

Yeah unless we need to clear his cap space to facilitate a larger/different move, might as well just hold onto him for now.

We couldn't give him away for free right now.

Hopefully we have a better year overall next season and he is a part of that.

It's really unfortunate that Sutter got hit hard by covid, otherwise, I think Sutter would have been excellent as a 3C, and Dickinson would have been a winger on that line instead...

I really think we miss Sutter more than we believe.  Our PK probably would improve a lot with him out there.

Yup, not having Sutter had hurt us this season, particularly earlier on. Not having a Beagle replacement didn't help either.

In 2021/22 we ought not to be counting on Brandon Sutter to play a significant role on this team.

It was foolish for management to have him in their plans as a plan A or even B.

They'll get nothing for him. Another Benning Sea of Granlunds...

Well at least he's got some size.   Think like Poolman, we are stuck with him.    JB was such a one step forward on back GM - as in just average.   Schenn looks great.  Garland looks good.   Hamonic and Sutter good grief.   Out of all his moves last summer, Dickinson and Poolman seemed to be the least risk and safest.   And they've kind of flopped so far.    It's like he went back to the start all of a sudden and decided to re-tool when the rebuild wasn't done yet lol.    Doubling down ... JR/Allvin  is doing the right thing by waiting this out with Bruce as the coach.   The middle seems to be where we are headed.  How they are going to fix this is anyones guess - where is Quin when we need him?
