(Discussion) Dickinson on the trade block

It's really unfortunate that Sutter got hit hard by covid, otherwise, I think Sutter would have been excellent as a 3C, and Dickinson would have been a winger on that line instead...

I really think we miss Sutter more than we believe.  Our PK probably would improve a lot with him out there.

Absolutely.   Motte Sutter Dickenson on paper looks too be one of the best 4th line shutdown lines in the entire league.

Dickinson has definitely had a tough year. But he got traded for the first time in his career, to a team that was struggling, and then had a coaching change. There's a decent chance he'll be improved next year. Since this year most likely is a write-off, it makes more sense to just to hope for improvement rather than spend assets to get rid of him.

Although I agree with struggling because of the reasons you've pointed out, he is a pro making solid dough, playing in the best league in the world - he should act like it.

In 2018 Benning signed Roussel and Beagle to multi year deals at 3M per.

in 2021 he finally got rid of them and in a flat cap covid environment went right out and  signed Dickenson and Poolman to multi year deals at 2.65 and 2.5M.

Good grief what a bonehead.

We were very fortunate to dump that even bigger mistake that was Nate “The Juiceman” Schmidt.

On this day that Toffoli goes to Calgary so all 3 of Markstrom Tanev and Toffoli are now in Calgary and Vancouver received zero for any of them, zero.  It is a day to not pull punches on how bad Benning was at his job. That sequence after the bubble ranks right up there with the Cam Neely trade as one of the darkest periods in Canuck history.

Miller expressed it publicly, right?  He pretty much said similar to you.  Was that because of Benning or our owner though?

Im curious about Dickinson’s value around the league.  Production is def. down, but he’s versatile (C/W), a big body, decent skater, PK option.  Maybe a re building team might see a need for him, if the cost to acquire is low.

Re-sign Motte/Lammi/Highmore boom.

Probably a cap in / cap out type of trade.

what is it you expect from Dickie?

Only Miller, Hughes and Lammikko have increased their point production this year

While Motte and Highmore are almost exactly even with last year, and people LOVE those 2 guys

Dickinson is 9 points off last years total. While Boeser is 21 pts behind, Bo is 12, Garland is 10

the guy has a career high of 9 goals

what do you seriously expect?

What dont you understand? I seriously expect him or anyone of our players to show up and play their hearts out.

And for the record, I have nothing against him personally.

I think we should get rid of Dickinson and free up that cap space. You can get 4 Luke

How in the heck do we dump Dickinson?  He’s got negative value.  We’d have to take back another team’s crap.

Dickinson for Debrusk for example.  That kind of crap trade.

I'd do that in an instant. Then just don't qualify Debrusk, and let him walk.

what I don't understand is what you are seeing that says he is not trying?

serious question, do you have examples of him floating, pouting, infighting?

all  I see is a guy drafted too high with hands of stone that is mi-cast as a center and top 6 winger

a first rounder who was fairly traded for a 3rd

a guy who probably slots in well for Motte or Highmore, but not Lammikko or Sutter, definitely not higher than a 3rd line winger

at best there are 2 lw and 2 rw spots on the roster for this guy, 4 positions he has rarely played

kind of a cross between Oreskovic/Mathias/Virtanen (without the party/sex habit)

maybe kind of a Gauncer, bit of a scorer in Jr, but not really good at anything in the NHL, so they try to make him a hitter/D specialist, which he is not.

you sound like you have something against him personally

and for the record, I willn't shed a tear when he goes
