The Canucks PK is not great, and they're not scoring enough most games to give up free goals because of stupid, careless penalties. Bruce has been trying to send a message through ice time to both Hogs and Pods. For Hogs it's discipline and keeping his head in the game in his own end. For Pods, I'm sure he wants him to be more dynamic, use his size and strength, and be harder on the boards, which will make more room for guys like Petey. Both are young players, who NEED coaching. Neither of them came into the league as fully formed players. If you say something to a player and he disregards you and makes the same mistake, then all you have left is to give him a seat on the bench to think about what he did. Nobody learns a lesson if there are no repercussions for continued wrong behavior. That said, I thought that line was terrific last night, each player played their role, and they ended up with a beautiful goal. Honestly I also have no problem with this. Boudreau is actually being a coach to those two and teaching them things. They're young and no doubt have a ton of room to grow.

We can't keep going down the stretch with a win one, lose one mentality. If we want to overtake teams, we're gonna have to have another run of 10 games over .500 over the next couple months as well. I am not smart enough but I would love to create an algorithm that indicates must wins vs losses. I can't prove it but I believe there are must wins and must losses. For example, beating Arizona is a MUST win. Why? Because the team Van is chasing (Calgary(OMFG the division sucks)) will probably beat Arizona. Therefore to stay even with Calgary the Canucks must beat Arizona. Where the Canucks will get destroyed is when Calgary beats Dallas in OT. Yep. Another 7 game win streak would do wonders for our playoff chances.

How many years will that be consecutive of us paying a G not on the team...too many!!! That's true ... but at least we aren't paying 10 million for Bobrovsky either. Yes. Plus i'd like to see us make a dent on games over .500...a couple times we've had the chance to make it happen, this for sure is the best set of upcoming games with the team healthy (well no QHs - but way better then no goalies and 1/3 of your top six).... All the games against western teams ahead of us would be in the must win section for sure, especially in our own division...

Should be lots of goals. I bet you a medium-rare air-fryer cat against a bottle of 12 year old Oban that Halak beats .840 tonight …

No hesitation and didn't get man handled and knocked off the puck as often as its been all season long. Agreed..he looked dangerous whenever he had the puck. The confidence is definitely higher than it has been.

Correct but if they dont have the cap space this year, the cap hit can be assumed by the team next year. So if they dont want the cap hit next year, they need to free up the space this year. Is that to say that unless the Canucks make sufficient changes to free up 1.25 m Halak isn’t paid until next season? If Halak agreed to a trade before payment due date I believe the bonus could be transferred to his new team.

Even saw Dickinson move up onto the third line with Petey and Podz in the third period and Hoglander sat in the third period. Bruce mentioned in the post game conference he moved Dickinson to that line "to send a message to one of our players". You can tell Bruce isn't quite a fan of Hoglander right now. I think longterm Hogz if he has the right attitude will be better for the tough love. Motte was in the exact same boat and was able to win Bruce over. People need to realize coaches will do what they feel gives them the best chance of winning but he is also the kind of coach that will put the player in the best position to show they've learned whatever message was being sent. Both Podz and Hogz returned to the best spot to succeed after. For me the best coaches I had in baseball were the ones pushed me to get better. The hardest coach I ever had was the reason I ever got a chance to continue after High school , If Hogz has the right attitude and uses this as the lesson it's meant to be, he will become a better well rounded player and like the countless before him he will look back one day thankful for helping him become a better player. And if his attitude sucks and he sulks and whines well then he will never take that next step. Hogz doesn't seem like the latter imo.
