Hero to zero, in less than a year.  Gorton really, cleaning house - perhaps Greens' next stop ?

I don’t think he speaks French. Thank goodness

Just glad they didn’t hire Roy.  Loved him as a goalie but the guy is a headcase.  Also glad they didn’t go with a retread like Vigneault

Changes in the draft. You can go all in, but you only get 1st overall once in 5 years.

Yotes and Habs still doing there best to win, the lottery cup.

Imagine, Wright and Bedard in one team ?  Team will still, need a goalie: Pits vs Edm

Everyone loves St. Loui.  But the Habs need to get some decent young players, and prospects.  Other than Suzuki, who I think is awesome, they have nothing coming in their youth.  Little Cole Caughfield has zero (count them; ZERO) PP goals.  The smrferoo gets prime PP time too.  Best to move on from guys like that.

are the Habs required to hire french speaking GMs and coaches?

Not required. But they get crucified when they don’t.  They tried it with Randy Cunneyworth a few years back and it did not over well.  The francophone politicians and media tore him apart

The Habs run was worth it for one reason: they won the Clarence Campbell trophy for the first (and almost certainly only) time in their history. For a team that has historically won everything, that was an interesting footnote.

Other than that, yeah...total tire fire. But the Habs fans I know are happy with the high picks they have coming. Better than being just mediocre for the next 5 years.

Yup.  Draft in the middle and it’s a crap shoot.  The pick might be good, but it’s more often a bustaroo like Caufield.

Regarding AV. You would never hire an experienced coach in this situation because they would never accept an interim role, they would demand a multi-year deal and there is no benefit to paying the going rate for that level when there is no chance to make the playoffs this year unless you knew already he was the best choice by far for the long term.

The problem with MSL is he might not be able to see the ice from behind that bench without his skates on.

Does he even have any coaching experience?

Man the Habs are really all over the place these days.

Hilarious how many good candidates they eliminate by this obsession with hiring French Canadians. You’ll never win with such a myopic approach.

French speakers.  Can't really expect them to do otherwise.  Montreal is such a passionate hockey market and fans would be beyond frustrated if they can't understand the coach or GM.
