Not much potential left for these guys. To me it looks like two bottom 6 centers and a bottom pairing dman. Wouldn’t be thrilled if that was the return for Garland alone let alone adding in Rathbone and McDonough. Garland is on a great contract if NJ wants him I would be looking at Mercer. A Center prospect with potential on their team now. If they want a top 6 guy locked in on a good contract I want a blue chip prospect not a bunch of okay guys.

Bahl has tons of potential.  Zacha playing with Petey and Podkolzin would be lights out.  And McLeod is one of the best faceoff guys in the NHL.  Garland is 5'8" on a good day.  Rathbone will be a 3rd pairing guy for us and McDonough hasn't even signed a contract with us and is already 22.  I think we tend to overvalue our prospects.  Zacha, McLeod and Bahl would fill alot of our holes.  We can trade Miller to the Rangers for a RHD and a 1st round pick plus another forward.

We will see what JR wants to do.  The team is playing well right now but it's obvious we have holes to fill so we would need to make some trades to fill those holes.

NJD aren't looking to trade McLeod though.  He's their top PKer and Ruff trusts him against top lines which would create a hole in their lineup.

Makes sense.  So my proposal is actually one side in the Canucks favour.  JR pulls the trigger in a heartbeat and it is New Jersey that says no...

If we decided to trade Miller then Zacha would make a lot of sense. It would cost us Garland but Zacha, Bahl + a little extra would be a good return. Our RW depth has Karlsson(who's having a stellar year) and Klimovich. Pod can play RW too.

There's also whatever the return would be for Miller. Schneider, 1st and another solid young piece? That would give us two 1sts on this next draft which we could use on a RD and a C.

Then there's whatever potential cap space we'd bring in that could help us for next year

Bahl/Schneider would allow OEL more offensive freedom as they develop into defensive D.

That's if we decided to go that route.

Man, Brock’s q offer is a huge deal.
It has such a significant effect on this roster in the near future.  If we know in advance that he hasn’t earned that figure then he has to go. It’s a shame as he is a truly core player on this team right now.
thoughts?

Irfaan Gaffar says he knows that Boeser wants to stay and be part of that young group.  He thinks they will find a way to get a deal done.

Core players right now for me: Demko, Hughes, Petey and Bo.

Then we had better see a $6x6 deal signed in the next week.  That is a perfectly fair number that gives him security and the team some chance of getting upside on the contract.

He can sign an extension anytime and us knowing his cap hit helps make decisions for the rest of the roster.

Anything short of that and the “he wants to be here” stuff is pretty meaningless.  Who knows what the management team thinks of him, if he wants the team to be faster then he has to move out good players for good faster players.  Boeser could fit that bill.

Think it’s gonna be between $6.5-7 x 6yrs if Boeser re-signs.

Zacha is another reclamation project is the issue, there is a reason the devils want to dump him, a deal around a 2nd round pick being the center of it should be enough to get it done

He's their 3rd most used forward.   Doesn't feel like he's someone they just want to dump but might be the cost to get Garland.

i severely doubt it, Garland is the better player despite having less ice time and really sturs the pot for us, Devlis would have to add massively, like Marek said he is more than likely going to walk next offseason, don't see why would trade the cost controlled winger on a good contract for that

Yeah that doesn't shed much salary. Zacha will get "Pearson money" at the minimum.

Something like Boeser + Poolman opens up 6~ mil in space lol

Zacha will get more then Pearson.. Look at this year and previous 2 season very similar to Garland with points..

Zacha 25, 6'3 - 4 yrs X 3.9 -- 4.5 million
