Popular Post -DLC-
Happy Family Day everyone. Now, more than ever before, we truly appreciate what family time means. Having had it stripped away to some degree, it's nice to be getting back to near normal. We still wear masks around "Papa" even though we're all boosted...just feels like the right thing to do. A guy in his 80's who's battled cancer, aneurysms and a super bug deserves fully protecting. It's a small thing we can do to feel safe(r). Had a great weekend! Dad's been confined to the basement since June post surgery...in a small makeshift bedroom/kitchen/living room. I dragged our poker table down there and we gathered for a family game of Hold 'Em. It was amazing...Dad's been going downhill and in a bit of a fog recently and I've been sad watching age slide in and replace his quick wit and energy. But damn, bring out the poker chips and he's BACK! He had almost all the chips at one point (had to take up 2-3 chip wells on the table). His cat kept climbing all over the table, knocking chips everywhere...just like old times. Our "thing" was always a good game of poker and we laughed, played music and had a really nice time. We went and grabbed Steveston Pizza afterward, to round out the event. The sunny weekend also really brightened the spirits and set the tone. Had also been in a bit of a funk (like Dad) but family time followed by a good 1.5 hour walk yesterday cleared out all the cobwebs. Re-energized. Today I found out I won 4 tickets to the Kraken game in April so that rounds out the perfect weekend. How about you guys? Did you do anything "family" oriented? Or just something that made you feel happy? 1
Popular Post c00kies
As a federal worker, I don't get today off. However, your sentiment is true. I've been self-isolating since Wednesday in my room of the house (parents and a sister) and I miss being with them so much. Covid sucks Edited February 21, 2022 by c00kies

I mean, sometimes in life we get busy and aren't with them, but when it's stripped away and it's a matter of "can't" it's glaring. Hang in there, you have to hang with this family for now. But you're loved just the same.
allegend
It has not been a great Family Day for us. My usually healthy, fully vaccinated, 21-year-old daughter caught Covid. She has mild heart inflammation and low CRP and oxygen levels. Take care and be safe, everyone.
grumpyone
since I was incompacitated over Christmas, we had a family Christmas dinner yesterday. I made a full turkey dinner. Turkey, mashed, sweet potatoes, french style green beans, stuffing, homemade buns, gravy... mmm it was good. 1
Chickenspear
Would have loved to see my family up island, but unfortunately, I had to work today.
