Gadjovich went after Deslauriers after an Anaheim player cheap shotted a Sharks player.  Exactly what we are missing in our lineup.

There's nothing wrong with Gadjovich as your 13th forward and putting him in the lineup against teams like Anaheim or Calgary.  It's not like Highmore is a goal machine and needs a guaranteed spot every game, especially against physical teams. Anaheim embarrassed us just a couple of games ago and Boudreau even said in the post game press conference that he would have liked to start some fights but he didn't have any players that could do that.

Gadjovich isn't the answer to our problems but at least he would have added some truculence and backed up our players after some cheap shots.

Exactly.  There's a reason he is in an NHL lineup to begin with.  There's a reason the Rangers have Reaves etc.  Not to mention we drafted him, developed him then just dropped him for no reason.  Dickenson/Chaisson or 23 year old Gadjovich on an ELC?   Easy choice

Our lineup is butter soft and it's embarrassing.

Gads can’t skate.  Never should draft guys who skate like Gads.  Very VERY slow feet.  It’s like he’s skating in mud.  Lucia is a million times the better skater.  Gads doesn’t even have straight line NHL skating.

This is true.

Buuùùuuuuuuut. He can fight

I just watched Gadjovich win fight with big 6'2, 230 lb, Deslauries...Can't believe Benning and group let him go..

Gadjovich won the fight, was very impressed.

Gadjovich is garbage, and will be on waivers many times in his career.  He has 2 points this season and plays 8 minutes every second game.  Benning was correct in waiving him, as we have no room in the lineup for him.

Same goes for MacEwan.  Fans like guys who fight, doesn't mean they are good, or worth a roster spot.

Honest question, who comes out of the lineup for these guys and their combined 6 points.

You can't have all Ferraris and Porches in the fleet...you need a heavy duty truck (preferably with duelies - maybe the new electric Hummer), a nice reliant automobile (something like a Honda Accord) or a Toyota Camry), a minivan (Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna are my choices), a full size SUV like a Toyota Forerunner, a mini SUV like an Acura RDX or a BMW X3, a compact/fuel efficient car like the Honda Civic, and a PEV like a Tesla.

It's like Jon Cooper described his third and fourth liners...you need a good truck to get you through the mud.  That's what Gadjovich could have been for the Canucks, but no...Benning thought the washed up Chiasson was a better option.

As long as the truck isn't sporting a set of those ridiculously stupid truck nuts i totally agree.

On another note, Brenden Gaunce scored his 3rd goal in 7 games for the Blue Jackets tonight.

Good for Gaunce though.

After leaving the Canuck organization Gaunce joined the Bruin organization in 2019-20 where he was a point a game player at the NHL level!

(He got in one game with the NHL Bruins and picked up an assist.)

I admire his determination. He may yet carve out a legitimate NHL career.

Did he finally figure out that he needed to work on his skating?

Yea, I don't get how these guys just don't figure out that if I'm not working out in the NHL, work on everything (every aspect). It's not like he lives in a bubble, I'm sure all the coaches and players around him are providing this advice at some form or another.
Probably some personal issues going on?

Either way, glad to see him get back into it!

Yeah good for him... It didn't work out for him here, but hopefully he will make it else where...

He's still in the NHL though, but I agree, he was mostly invisible against the Canucks last week. Our 4th line players have far more skill than he'll ever have, and much better wheels.

Deslauriers plays that role and actually chips in offensively once and awhile.

We need someone that can contribute when they’re not dropping the mitts. Either offensively or on the pk.

That’s the type of players we need to target.

OMG, there are maybe 6-7 players that can fight and be very aggressive and play in top 9??

The NYI have 2 forward no better then Gadjovich.. Martin 32 and Johnston 28...

Vancouver is way to soft to play again ..Only Schenn challenge guys taking cheap shots on the small Canuck players..

Gadjovich 23 walks and keep Chiasson 31 so so slow?Rather have Gadjovich then Chiasson..

Granted, that we could probably use a little more overall toughness in the lineup, but are we SERIOUSLY, whining about losing a guy who can't really skate and has put up 2 assists in 28 games (not regularly in the lineup) and is -9 on the season?

Whining not at all? Stating we are a soft team and need toughness..Look at the heavy team when they play Vancouver we are so soft..'

Keeping Chiasson 31 slow as can be over a young energy tough guy that can be in lineup against the heavy teams..Gadjovich 23, 6'2, 210 still improving and is not as bad of a skater as all you people say? If Gadjovich was that bad he would not be in the NHL????

I guess you like watching this Canucks team get pushed around..

Look out tomorrow night against Calgary such a big heavy team..Lucic has to be one of the slowest skaters in league???

Oh he adds toughness right right...How about big Gudbranson, Ritchie, Lucic, very big slow guys but add lots of toughness and grit...

For sure you need in playoffs...

I didn't say that we couldn't use more toughness, but we kept Chiasson because, even though he's slow, he's a more effective player and better defensively. We took a chance that we'd be able to slide Gadjovich through to Abbotsford and we were wrong.

Could we use more toughness? Yeah, I think so, but we need toughness that is capable of playing in the NHL and being responsible defensively.

Chiasson in 40 games has 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points and is - 2

Gadjovich in 28 games is no goals, 2 assists and is - 9

If you're a coach in the NHL, based on those stats, if you don't go with Chiasson, you shouldn't be coaching in the NHL. Your job is to ice the best team possible and Chiasson gave us the best overall chance at winning. At 6'4", 208 lbs, Chiasson is also capable of answering the bell when necessary and has done so.

You're arguing about keeping someone who is replaceable in the NHL. What we need is another Derek Dorsett, who will literally go with anyone, can skate and is capable defensively. Before his career ending injury, they were putting him out against McDavid and he was frustrating him. You put Gadjovich out against McDavid and McDavid will use him as a pylon.

So, yes, let's get some more toughness in the lineup, but not at the expense of skating and defensive capability.

Wow... how old is he now?

Has he been toiling in the minors this whole time? That's some perseverance. I need to look up the highlight. Gaunce had a look like he was gonna be 20 forever.

Edit: Just looked it up. Big body with some speed. Good for him!

Gadjovich is young, 23, and drafted in the 2nd round. If we never ease in young prospects into the lineup we wouldn't have discovered Burrows who turned out to be a 30 goal scorer. Gadjovich already have the grit department set, which is good enough for 4th line crash and bang duty 8-9 minutes a game.

Losing him is losing great depth, a loss for the organization no matter how you want to spin it.

Gads can’t skate.  Shouldn’t have drafted him anyway.  No quickness.  Can’t defend up high.  Is an AHL player.

Gads on the powerplay infront of the net is better than Brock. I said it. Neither can skate both terrible 5v5. If we deployed Gad like we deploy Brock he'd score 30 and protect Pete Hughes. Give Gadjo a couple years and circle around.
