Are we talking the same middle of the Rd Marino?

Boeser for him 1-1 is a loss

Garland for him 1-1 I'd consider a loss as well.  He's not a terrible player at all.  But I'd dare say Boeser and garland hold far higher value to our team currently to just shuffle them off in a 1-1 style trade.

We'd have to shed cap or gain something else

I think we'd be looking for something like Boeser + Poolman for Marino + Kapanen/Rod and either a pick or prospect for giving up the best player.

The cap works, the player swapping works etc.

We need to re stock team with younger talent...Miller 29, is having a fantastic season..Lets sell when stock is high??

We need to get assets back fore Miller and set up for good playoff runs in 1-2 years...

Miller will be 30 years old next Summer will demand 7.8 -- 8.5 million X 5 yrs..Please please no lets start getting assets back??

Markstrom, Tanev we got nothing in return? We should of resigned these players and  then traded them...

OMG, look at return for a Markstrom 2 yrs ago? We need to think of the future and I don't see Miller continuing putting up points like this..

I see Miller 25--30 G-- say 65 points next 2-3 years then dropping off to say 45--50 points last few years of contract..

Get a young RD man under 23..NYR, LA Kings, Colorado

Example NYR

( Schneider 20, 6'1 -RD or - Lundqvist 21, 5'11 RD )-- Chytil 22, 6'3 C - Barron 23, 6'4 220 F  bottom 6 -- 1st rounder 2022

NYR

Miller 29 -  (-Motte  27 - Maybe if different players are added )

You have to make hockey deals like this if NYR come calling in a week...

We are not ready to take on Calgary, Colorado, LA Kings, Wild, Nashville...We must get better and younger....

Problem is that everyone (owner, management, players, fans) want to win now.

I agree Marino 23, 61, 4.4 million X 5 decent contract for # 3 -#4 guy-- Maybe Garland 25, 4.9 million X 4 yrs...

Its a tough trade as we are giving up a 22-27 G guy..Garland isn't getting ice time he needs to put up numbers 2nd unit PP  and 14--16 mins a game

Marino make defence better and he is young ?..He doesn't play tough style more of a soft D man but skilled

I mean Marino. We aren’t getting him without giving up Boeser or Garland. Both guys Pittsburgh is interested in and I could see Garland for Marino straight across or a package including Marino for Boeser.

Pittsburgh are in playoffs and trading there #3 D man Marino does not make sense?

Their biggest need is a sniper/powerplay specialist for Malkin or Crosby and one like Boeser isn’t gonna come cheap.

Pens would love that deal!  I would think they would want us to take Kapanen too though.

Dickinson + Poolman + Pearson for Kapanen + Marino.

That's likely what a fair deal looks like.  They might have to add a guy like Rodriguez to balance the cap.

Fantastic trade for the canucks. No brainer yes

Horrific trade for the pens :picard:

wow i cant see them not winning the stanley cup if they added Kane.

The Avs need a goalie and Mckinnon and Makar to play the right way without the puck.  Adding Kane actually makes them regress in the area of the game they need to get better.

Owner has always wanted the playoffs gravy.  We're unsure of management yet as they are yet to make any moves.  Not all fans want to mortgage our future for now.  Some of us understand we need to be patient to build a serious contender for years to come, and we will support our team regardless.

Management has already come out and said they plan to get younger, faster and cheaper, possibly taking small steps back to build a long term, consistent contender. Ownership who hired them then, would presumably be on board.

not now, but a month ago it seemed like everything was on the table.

They were gauging interest, which just makes sense. And as time goes on, and they spend more time with the team they are gonna weed out who is and isn't a core piece. And if I am not mistaken, a month ago our GM was in his 2nd week with the team. I doubt Miller was seriously being shopped a month ago. They were throwing feelers out there for literally everyone on the team from what I heard. Then decided on the untouchables. Miller should be our number 1 untouchable at this point. He's been unreal under Boudreau.

I think it was out there if BYR wanted to cough up "4 pieces" for Miller but it wouldn't surprise me at all if now NYR underpays a bit for Kane at 50% retained.

Per Frank Seravalli and Gene Principe

Apparently according to these two, the Coil are hot and bothered about obtaining Patrick Kane (CHI).

Chicago retaining salary would be part of the trade, but no mention of return from EDM.

They also mention that if they can’t agree, Phil Kessel is being considered as a strong secondary option.

If true, going to be a great battle of Alberta this season!
