Dekey Pete
shouldn't be making that turn against the end boards, puts yourself in a horrible position to get hurt when the obvious check comes. It's 1 game so whatever, but players need to be smarter on the ice when they are chasing down loose pucks
Dekey Pete
hell, he even let up at the last second. What a dumb suspension. Edited April 9, 2022 by Dekey Pete

And the player coming in off the puck should just be allowed to hit them? Got it. That might not be going full throttle into the hit, but Cizikas has to be smarter there knowing it's not going to be a legal hit. Totally fine with the suspension.

I’ve seen our guys take worse hits and there’s not even a penalty on the play let alone a suspension Edited April 9, 2022 by Pears

Yes, that's pretty much what I'm saying. It's a contact sport. It's not that he has to be facing him when the hit is delivered, but a hockey player chasing a puck towards the end boards should know that there is someone tailing them trying to take the puck away or make a hit. He did know this, he looked behind himself and made a quick turn at the last second to try and avoid the check. The problem is he ended up leaning over and putting himself in a really bad position to take a hit. in fact if he just continued skating in the same direction and wrapped around the net he probably wouldn't have got hurt. He tried to dodge a hit and it backfired on him. It seems like nowadays anytime there is an injury on a play there has to be a suspension. There are much worse infractions that get let off with next to no punishment that the NHL could go after instead of borderline checks like this one.
