Honestly, absolutely flabbergasted he got an extension.

Not only because he was part of that Chicago Blackhawks/Kyle Beach cover up but also because the Jets have been an overwhelmingly mediocre team for like three seasons now. Shocked they didn't just let him walk after the end of the contract.

I suspect Cheveldayoff is fired by this time next year.

Boeser + Höglander for PLD?

I just don't see Hoglander having a whole lot of trade value

Yes, he was a 2nd round pick who had a solid first year, but he's still relatively unproven despite his potential

I see him as a piece we're better off just being patient with

I also just don't see them trading PLD, if there's any smoke around Scheifele they might just sell high on him instead

Ehlers and Connors are closer to PLD in age than Scheifele anyway

I think Höglander has more trade value than some people think.  He is currently 8th overall in total points from his 2019 draft class, which puts him as a solid top 15 player from 2019.  He may not have a long term fit in Vancouver as we have small forwards and need to get bigger.  Another team might be able to use him in their top 6.

They could very well trade Scheifele over PLD.  However, if PLD is available I think we can make a push for him.  A Miller trade could get the required assets to get PLD if they are not wanting Boeser or Höglander.

That sounds nice, but it's still just 45 points in 116 games. And more recently, 18 points in 60. I'm not saying he's worthless, but I think our trading him would be selling low as he's likely worth more being patient with than whatever his trade value currently is.

He's a relatively unproven, young NHL forward that I could see other teams looking at as a buy low candidate if he were to become available.

That's a big if though, I really don't think PLD is available and he really shouldn't be. He'll be a 24 year old center with size come September who's already put up 48, 61, 49, 21 (in 45 games), and 59 point seasons. Put him in the Scheifele spot and he likely blows up, he's also 3rd overall pick so the pedigree is there. If he somehow became available, absolutely you inquire, but Winnipeg would be stupid to move him.

This to me, sounds like Ryan Kesler!

He was 100% correct? Not unfair in some thinking. Can still go #*&%_! himself...
