Van + Vegas [Proposal]

Recommended Posts

So thinking about how to take advantage of VGK cap situation. Offersheet doesn't make sense to me. I am not on the trade Miller bandwagon. I want to stay competitive. However there may be an opportunity there to actually pull it off and keep us in playoff contention next year as well as improve our future outlook. We basically take everyone they can't afford to sign. Send them Miller @50% and some roster filler.

To VGK: Miller 50% + Poolman + Dickinson = cap 7.775

To Nux:

Shea Theodore LD/RD 5.25M +

Nicholas Roy C/RW (Rights) sign 3.25M ish

Nic Hague LD (Rights) sign 5m ish

2nd 2022 + 3rd 2023 and toss in Nolan Patrick while you're at it.

Hog Pete Pod

Pearson Bo Garland

Kuzmenko Roy Karlsson

Lammiko Patrick Lockwood

Bains (Bains is legit) Richardson ( I want Richardson's influence in the room and at practice teaching the ways of the PK)

Hughes Theodore

OEL Hague

Dermott Miller

Rathbone Shenn

Demko

Martin

and then in a year's time when Miller needs a new deal they'll have those roster fillers at over 5M preventing them from extending him.

That trade doesn't even seem to make them better.  Theodore has been their best D and moving him would set them back considerably.

They could have interest in Miller but without the cap dumps and more for futures than weakening their roster.  They are really in win now mode and futures probably matter little for them.

Vegas is in win now mode.  They have no use for Roy or Hague.  They need a 100 point player to get them back to the playoffs.

I'd do Miller 50% retained for Roy, Hague, Dadonov and their 2022 2nd round pick.  This gets them out of cap hell and they have a great shot at doing something in the playoffs next year.  We get two young studs who can fill critical positions.

We can then go after Filip Forsberg to replace Miller...

tbh I'd be just fine offer sheeting Vegas. They are really cap hampered for years, and if they end up retaliating so be it.

We can offer sheet Roy for something under 4.1 mil and it only costs a 2nd. Vegas will have a very hard time clearing the cap space to deal with it.

The other way we might be able to improve our d is by offering to take Dadonov if he's willing to waive to come here.

Dadonov + Hague for Rathbone or Dadonov + Roy for Dickinson, something like that.

IF we are trading Miller at 50% retained within our division, we would need a seriously major overpayment.

Dadonov

Roy

Hague

Same goes for LA... it begins with Brandt Clarke or Sean Durzi with a Kaliyev plus more.
