Mustard Tiger
What a year to hire a coach. Bruce, Maurice, Trots and so on are on the market... It's nice to see us retain one of the top ones

If any other team wanted to hire him, they'd have to either ask permission from the Canucks first or Bruce would have had to forfeit his contract and make himself a free agent - and I wouldn't be too surprised if there was a "non-compete" clause in his contract that would preclude him from being hired elsewhere for next season without getting permission from the Canucks. I thought the extra year was up to Bruce. He either accepted it by June 1st or the he was no longer here, and not getting paid. He likely didn’t have any solid (better) offers to g9 elsewhere, s9 chose to stay.

Jaimito
Nice interview. He was just taking time to address family issues and their hockey team back home. Sounds like the assistant coaches aren't signed yet.

Bruce is returning this fall because he wants to be coaching IN Vancouver next year. It’s really that simple.

What’s he going to say? Guys on 650, and their guest (some insider) said the market for Bruce was lukewarm. Plus, Bruce himself said his mom is 90 (living back east) and he has a junior team back there too. I can see why the insiders were saying Bruce was looking for coaching closer to home.

Is Boudreau the coach for a retool though? We trade Miller, Garland, and Myers for futures and take a step back. Bruce is done after this year, and we hire a new guy summer 2023. higgyfan
It's good for the team to have Bruce back for next season. He's a good communicator and works well with younger players (as well as players that are struggling with their confidence level). He's a teaching coach, which is what is needed right now; for incoming youth development, supporting the transition of new players and preparing the team for the rigours of playoff hockey.
