Do you think Bergeron retires?

Will one of the classiest guys who ever wore the Maple Leaf for Canada retire?

He's sitting at 982 career points...I think he'll re-sign for 3rd line centre type money (2-3.5mil) and get his 1000th point...just not 100% it'll be with Boston. Would we take PB for 3mil for one season just to stick it to the Bruins?

I think he'll be back, especially if they beat Carolina

I do think they need to be taking a hard look at finding someone to step into his spot sooner than later though, he'll be 37 at the beginning of next season if he comes back and he won't play forever

Which is a big part of why I see them as a potential landing spot for Miller

Classy and Boston Bruin are two things I don’t think belong together.

Hard to believe Bruins have a guy so respected around the league immensely in Bergeron and someone so hated throughout the league in Marchand.

Career ending injury or something?  Why retire?

He's been playing in the NHL since he was 18yrs and will be 37yrs this summer.  Maybe he's had enough of it and

wants to do something else.  It happens sometimes.

He just had the 5th most points in his career.  He's a point a game in these playoffs.  I don't see why he would need to start taking bargain basement contracts.  He should be a Selke finalist at a minimum again this year.

Why would he retire?  He still outplays almost every other centre man when hes out on the ice.

Yeah this is a situation where I guess he could retire...but it would more or less be a Ray Bourque retirement where he was still right near the top of his game.

That was damn near the only retirement I saw where there was absolutely minimal age related decline and certainly no signs that the decision was anywhere close to being made for him.  Maybe him and Patrick Roy.

There were retirements due to injuries still at their peaks like Bossy but that's a different thing.

I guess Ken Dryden.

Bergeron can retire and i wouldn't mind. I've got huge respect for Bob Gainey and Bobby Clark.   Some for Bergeron too.   Not all Selkes are created equal - Federov says hello, Datsyuk too.   Obviously i'm biased.

Aside from a few guys from the olden days (pre expansion) it's hard not to disagree.   Sakic too.   Wasn't he 37 when he last scored 100 points?  But again injuries and he ruined his hand i think in a chipper.   Borque was a beast until his last game.   Lidstrom maybe too (and yeah i've said a lot of things about him about how overrated he was).    Sawchuk before my time ... Plante and Bower too.    Agreed Roy went out on top and still has some miles left in him.   Dryden left way too early.   Hate to say this but maybe Sundin although he was never top level compared to his peers.   Just really good all the time.     Bergeron is still at the top of his game - if he retires we will see him in the HHOF in three years no doubt.

He's been talking about it all year.   He's not sure he will come back.

I've read several articles this year about him thinking of retirement.   Not supposition, from the horses mouth.   Has a family, and isn't sure if he wants to keep putting the time into the off-season (each year gets tougher for him) that he knows he has to put in to do it.  Nobody should be surprised if he's played his last game.

My prediction: he's going to sign with the Habs.

He's from Quebec and I believe the Habs new GM used to be his agent.  Seems like a good fit for him to finish off his career.

He won't do that.  It's either the Bruins or retirement.  He's said as much all season.   And a quick google check:

Bergeron Confirms It’s Boston Bruins Or Retirement
