theo5789
Pretty darn good contract for a player that just had 58 points in 60 games. He is 30 though and the contract takes him until he's 36, so if he was here, I'm sure many would've preferred they traded him for picks instead. 1 1 1

grandmaster
This contract is pretty good, something Miller’s agent can not ignore.

Miller is a bit more and Boeser is a bit less. If our guys don’t agree to deals that reflect what Rust just got then F them. Trade them to Buffalo and Arizona so they will never win.

For one, Rust is exclusively a winger. Two, this season was a career high 58 points in 60 games for him at 30 years old. Three, he's only broken 40 points three times. Outside of them both being around the same age and Miller sometimes playing wing they don't have a whole lot in common and neither does their value. This isn't to say Rust isn't a quality player or anything, but the Canucks likely wouldn't get very far trying to use it as a comparable for Miller. Hell, it's not even really much of a Boeser comparable given the five year difference between the two players. Kadri, Gaudreau, and Forsberg are more likely comparables and if Forsberg re-signs in Nashville the tax bit will factor in too. The latter two being wingers, but players who are closer to Miller's bracket offensively. Edited May 22, 2022 by Coconuts
HKSR
Fantastic deal for the Penguins. Sets a nice bar for other teams moving forward. Ahem... Miller... ahem....

Rust is at 0.9666 point per game and got a 5.2M AAV. So if we use that as a comparable, JT Miller at 1.2375 point per game should get 6.65M AAV. Down by the River
Sid taking 8.7 virtually guaranteed everyone else would be signing friendly contracts.

We had a bit of that to a lesser extent with recent contracts for Demko & Hughes (not sure about Petey). I see Miller, Boeser and Bo doing the same. Unfortunately we have a new management regime that is itching to make its own mark on the team. Edited May 22, 2022 by grandmaster
