WEVEGOTMOTTE
To Montreal: Boeser Myers Rathbone To Van: Anderson Savard 2022 2nd Round Pick Cheaper more defensive minded defenseman in in Savard. A more physical right winger to play with Petey who can finish. Giddy up, Go Canucks Go! 1 1
Blue Jay 22
Don’t see why Montreal does this. Or Vancouver for that matter. Seems lateral at best and pointless at worst for the Canucks.
kloubek
I could see at least a potential of the teams being interested. Montreal buys low on Boeser but potentially gets a player who can help their scoring woes. They do take a downgrade on their D as a result, but have Rathbone to potentially be an ongoing player for them. The only thing I would argue is that they might not be willing to move extra picks if they are looking at rebuilding. (And after that season, one would imagine they would). For the Canucks, we get that big stay-at-home d-man for Hughes we've been searching for. Anderson is no Boeser, but he would add scoring and size to the 3rd line and could fill in on the 2nd if Podz or Hogs cannot. My main issue with this is that although I DO like the way he plays, Anderson just gets paid a bit too much for what he brings, imo. We are clearing out cap by moving Myers which is great, but replacing 2 years of cap for Anderson's 5 years of cap and then adding more salary with Savard. The other thing I'm not keen on is that if Miller leaves, this team is going to be scrambling for scoring. Do we really want to then move out a guy who may have had a questionable season, but has typically been one of the highest scoring players on our team? Just a year ago he scored at almost a ppg pace, and that's just not something you can replace easily.
qwijibo
There are several reasons Montreal declines The contract status of Boeser (and his QO) Anderson brings elements that Boeser just can’t. He brings size, physicality and puck retrieval to the Caufiejd , Suzuki line. Boeser can’t fill that role assuming they get Boeser signed long term for about $6.5m they’re taking on $3.5m in cap and aren’t really improving their team They are very likely moving Petry this summer. This trade leaves them with Myers as their top right shot D. Nobody wants that if it’s Montreals own 2nd the pick is essentially a late 1st. The trade is already slanted in Vancouvers favour without the pick. It’s lopsided if you’re including the pick. Rathbone is a very good left D prospect. But Montreal has a dominant player in Guhle who towers over Rathbone waiting in the wings. Along with Harris, Barron, Norlinder they’re looking set for left D nhl ready prospects. 1

I don't see how he's an upgrade for us. And you're giving up Myers and Rathbone? Nah bro Pass Edited June 1, 2022 by NucknAsia 2
VancouverHabitant
I would've loved to get David Savard here a few years ago but in hindsight that would've been a big mistake. He's taken a significant turn for the worst over the last year. This deal is too convoluted for both Vancouver and Montreal. Maybe @qwijibo can fill us in better on what Montreal's plan is for the upcoming year, I honestly have no idea at this point. Are they going for the playoffs with all their guys coming back healthy or are they going to go for a mini rebuild/retool?

Are they going for the playoffs with all their guys coming back healthy or are they going to go for a mini rebuild/retool? Based on their trade deadline where they moved out Toffoli, Chairot, Lehkonen and Kulak, and rumours that they’ll move Petty for the right deal, I think it’s safe to assume they’re looking at quick rebuild. Hopefully in the vein of what the Rangers did. They have several strong prospects that are close to making the jump. (Harris, Guhle, Barron, Roy, Farrel ad others). they have some excellent young players on the team already. (Caufield, Suzuki, Romanov, Anderson) They lack a superstar. I’m not sure Wright is going to be that. But they’ll get a very good player picking 1st OA this draft. They also have a lot of draft capital over the next 2 drafts to fill out the prospect pool. (23 picks in the next 2 drafts including 4 firsts 3 seconds and 4 third round picks) They lost nearly 750 man games to injury this season. Setting an NHL record. They’re not as bad as their record suggests. But they have holes that need to be addressed. Especially after shipping out so many veteran players. The fly in the ointment is the uncertainty surrounding Price. They don’t have the cap discs to make any big moves until that situation is resolved one way or another. Weber’s contract is another issue. But it won’t be difficult to move it given how little acutely money is owed compared to the cap hit. There were several reports that the contract was almost moved at the trade deadline. Look for a trade with Arizona this summer. St Louis seems to have stabilized the coaching issue. Although their special teams are still pretty bad. all in all I’d say playoffs are very unlikely and they’ll be looking to rebuild over the next couple years. NewbieCanuckFan
Montreal doesn't have the cap space to take on Myers & Boeser's (QO) contract. They're *already* at their cap limit.

But that doesn’t mean they can it would even consider this deal
Rabbit
I think Montreal will do this deal if there is 2023 second round draft, in stead of 2022.

For all the reasons I already went in to. This isn’t a deal that works for Montreal.
Alflives
Habs are in serious rebuilding mode. The have Suzuki and Romanov to build around. It’s obvious the rest of their younger guys are craperolla. They are wanting picks, not fully developed guys.
