Popular Post Coconuts
Report: Canucks “will try to find suitors” for Tanner Pearson and Jason Dickinson JUNE 9, 2022, 10:05 AM | DAVID QUADRELLI The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly going to be looking for potential suitors to take on the contracts of Tanner Pearson and Jason Dickinson, according to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli. In the latest edition of his top 25 Trade Targets list, Seravalli ranked Pearson and Dickinson together at 18th on his list and had this to say: “Scoop: [Canucks president Jim] Rutherford said recently on the DFO Rundown that the amount of money the Canucks can move off their books will determine how big of a player they are on the trade and free agent market this summer. We know from Pittsburgh that Pearson is not Rutherford’s type of winger. He’s already traded him once. Dickinson is vastly overpaid for his production, but it will cost assets to move him. The Canucks will be working to try and find suitors for both.” Both players have two years remaining on their current contracts, both of which were signed by previous general manager Jim Benning. Some would argue that Pearson, who will turn 30 in August, technically outperformed his $3.2 million cap hit by putting up 14 goals and 20 assists through 68 games. Dickinson, on the other hand, had a first year to forget in Vancouver. After the club traded a third round pick for him last offseason, Dickinson was slated to be the club’s third-line centre but struggled mightily in just about every way possible. He was unable to find his game even after the December coaching change, and finished the season with career lows in goals and assists. A change of scenery could be the best thing for both the club and player at this point in time. 3
Popular Post King Heffy
Pearson will find takers. I'd expect a hockey trade for a D. 7 1

Quantum
Jim Rutherford traded Tanner Pearson, he can do it again. I actually think that a lot of the Canucks more redundant contracts are tradeable. Poolman, Dickinson, Pearson, Myers. With Hamonic off the books with no money retained, I believe this management group can find suitors for these players. Dickinson seems like he'll get the Nate Schmidt treatment. A team will think they can rehab him after an off year and take a chance on him, Pearson has value on a contender, Myers is a tall RD with two years remaining coming off his best season in years, and well -- Poolman may be an LTIR guy or he might be a guy they have to dump in Arizona. Won't be shocked if one of those guys is shipped alongside Mikey Dipietro. Mikey needs a fresh start and I can see a team taking on someone like Dickinson or Pearson while also taking a chance on a goaltending prospect like Mikey. It's clear that Arturs Silovs is gonna be the starter/1B in Abby next season with Spencer Martin as the backup for the big club. Mikey seems to have lost ground and I hate to admit that/see it.... but that covid year really threw a curveball for his development and confidence. 1
Popular Post Dixon Ward
I don't think Pearson gets enough respect. He works hard, is a 200 foot player and can fill in on most lines. Also a class act and a good teammate. If it's a good trade, take it, but for me he is not a cap dump. 10 3 20 6 1
combover
Good Should read Myers Poolman pearson Dickenson and others being shopped. maybe it would be better to name who isn’t being shopped I’d bet the list is much shorter.

Not picking on you but I find that phrase annoying....and we hear it all the time.. "a hockey trade" - what other kind of trade in the game of hockey is there, I understand what its meant to imply but its silly....Just like when they still say "in the new nhl" or in "today's nhl"...lol anyways just had to get that off my chest hahah 1 1 2

He doesn't in Vancouver (media and fans) but I think teams around the league respect what he brings. He's a guy who does alot of the dirty work to help more offensive players be offensive. I think the reality is, age wise, he doesn't fit the long term plan, he will be valued around the league, and management is looking at ways to free up cap. This doesn't surprise me at all, and if we can swing a 2nd back for him, I think that would be a great trade. Literally every team would want him, if they're a contender they see what he brings and know its valued in the playoffs, if they're a young team, the way he leads, his approach to the game, etc, can help... I really like him but from a business perspective it makes sense to me. Edited June 9, 2022 by NucknAsia 1
grandmaster
Pearson could help get the money off the books from Dickenson. He is been a big disappointment for the Canucks.

They need a goalie prospect, and Dickenson/Pearson are defensive players they could use...notwithstanding cap issues.
Muttley
Well that's just a tad under six million in cap space if they are traded for picks or minor league prospects. I believe this is what JR was referring to when he said needing cap flexibility. Pearson had a decent year and maybe that had a little something to do with moving him now, if this is all true. Dickinson is guy I see as a lot more difficult to move out.
fanfor42
The interesting point is that they want to clear cap to be in on trades or UFA's. Couple big name Swedes could be available this year. Klingberg on D and Forsberg from Nashville. Man, I hope that Allvin can create an environment where top Swedish talent want to come here. I would love to add those guys. If Miller was traded for Schneider and Chytil and we dropped Myers Pearson Dickinson and Poolman then added Klingberg and Forsberg. Well.....
Bure_Pavel
Dickenson is not worth moving at this point kinda just have to hope he bounces back next season, Pearson should be movable for sure. 1

He somewhat underperformed this year, but did take a big step back towards what he was in 2019-20. He's a valuable player who can play 2nd line minutes on many teams, third line minutes on deep teams.

Don't think it is about respect - rather than it is just business. The players understands and if a team takes Pearson, that is more intune with his age, then he can have another chance at a cup and perhaps have better stats for another contract.. ...
