Alflives
Too bad Benning signed Ferland to a contract no insurer would cover, or maybe we could trade it.

It's about cap flexibility. It's a real disadvantage to have LTIR contracts on the books. It carves into a team's cap space, creates bonus overages and limits who they can recall. It's all benefit to be able to move out those contracts. Buffalo is trying to reach the floor.

Mustard Tiger
I understand why but i don't agree with being able to trade players who are injured and won't play again

Coconuts
Seems like a low cost for Dallas but I guess it helps both teams
Elias Pettersson
Buffalo is still like $13 million short of the cap floor even with Bishop. We should be pushing for them to take Dickinson and Poolman.

Why should the Canucks have to operate in LTIR if Ferland can never play again? there really needs to be a category for this that doesn't effect the cap, that can't be over exploited by teams. E.g., if you agree to go on it, part of it is that you never play the game again.

Nuxfanabroad
Lotsa yankee(key markets, right?) teams seem to get pretty sweet breaks in this dept. Disgusts me how this league is run. Edited June 10, 2022 by Nuxfanabroad

Buffalo needs the contract to reach the floor with the Boychuk 6M one coming off their books. NYI managed to trade Boychuk without even adding a pick after Buffalo traded Eichel's 10M contract.
