Cu Cu Cu Country Club Cleanup [Proposal]

Recommended Posts

Simple this teams slow charmin. Cut out the fat. If you're not playing with a mean streak you better be playing fast or better yet both.

- Brock's gotta go he's by definition country club player. He's got negative Jam get's all the best ice time does nothing to earn it. First team to offer a 2nd take it.

- Dickinson had a better 2nd half but why are we paying him 3c money to play like a 4th line winger? Toss him on waivers and see if anyone takes the bait if he clears fine Baby nux could use him.

- Poolman locked up through his prime Big RHD for 2.5M shouldn't be impossible to move.

Chaisson, Highmore, Hunt can walk or float whatever marshmallows do....

Re Sign Lammiko + Richardson(Keep him around good cheep mentorship)

Rathbone + Hoglander to Vegas for Roy + Hague or go the offer sheet route.

Sign:

Val Nichushkin 6x6M

Shoot LA a 6 pack for Brendan Lemieux rights 1,650,000 To qualify a lil steep. Probably just wait for him not to be qualified and sign him for less.

Brendan Gaunce league min always liked that guy. As a 13th fw he's a good PKer plays heavy still putting in work to carve out an NHL career gotta respect that

I agree about Boeser, but not necessarily the return. He's a great player, and I think he could get better yet. He's still young and went through a lot recently. But, saying that, he isn't very fast or physical and I think that's the direction JR wants to go. A fast, aggressive team. Need that to be successful getting in the playoffs and doing something.

Sure I mean take what you can get though I'd rather let him walk than sign that QO and the very last thing we need is Brock for 6.whatever with term playing with the intensity of da beauty league.

For his money you can afford a much better player.

Maybe he scores 30 maybe he doesn't but theres one thing for certain. He never lifts a cup.

Ok that's a little dramatic isn't it?   One things for certain - blank - most players in the league never lift a cup.   Sure maybe some of the things are true - but i watched Brock take some big hits to make plays during the bubble, while both Tofu and Pearson "seasoned battle tested vets'"  just wilted and played possum.   So maybe think about that.

So how did Tanev and Toffoli and Markstrom do this pkayoffs?  Warriors of ultimate myth status mostly.   One has a cup ring at least.   Markstrom got ventilated, Tanev was injured same story as Canucks.   I agree we need to get tougher.   Faster?  Lol whatever.  Hedman isn't that fast, neither is AP.    Fast isn't everything it's so passé really since PIT back to back cups.   You need the full meal deal to make it work.

Tofu was injured and Pearson potted as many as Brock did while playing shut down.

How was Tofu's playoffs last year?

Both players combined cap hit = Brocks QO

Not dramatic at all. Ill take Toffoli + Pearson over Brock twice on Sunday.

What does any of that have to do with Brock.

Point is - both Pearson and Toffoli were getting so much "warrior status" on this site and the love for a player that barely played any games only rivals maybe 1/2 a season of Sundin lol.    They both wilted ... wouldn't go in a corner or take a hit to make a play.  Yet you guys are ready to throw Brock under the bus ... shame .    Drafted the guy and he's already scored almost as many points as Pearson in how many games again?   I'd suggest maybe go back and watch the games again (bubble) Who exactly, did Tofu "shut down"  aside from his first game back he was almost invisible.

Yes this year Brock wasn't very good.   The year before he was.

Brock isn't the only topic.   You want a faster team... i'm saying that's not the only thing we need.

You're painting Brock as a guy that goes into the corner to make a play?

I gotta say I enjoy reading a lot of your posts and I appreciate your presence on CDC as one of the better posters adding often very good commentary that I come here to read. But on this particular subject playoff performer Brock I think I'll just agree to disagree.

We see a very different player. When I'm staring down the barrel of 7.5m QO or alternatively lock him up long term to save a league min contract. Neither of those options are nearly as attractive as 5.9 cap space and a 2nd.

I agree we need to be tougher to play against. If you aren't getting under teams skin you better be playing with speed and tenacity. We in theory should be very good on the PP so we need players that get more of them. To do that we're going to take penalties as a byproduct so we have to have a very good PK.

Hence Hague, Nichushkin, Roy, Lemieux, Gaunce. I'm not trying to obsess over pure speed or goonery instead raise the bar in terms of compete level.

We won't win a wagon race with Tampa/Colorado so if you can't beat them at their game change the game.

SCOUTING REPORT

The big, rambunctious forward can fly on skates, and he will hit anyone in an opponents' jersey, making him a ferocious forechecker. More than just a physical presence, his speed and hands give him sufficient offensive skills that opponents cannot ignore.

IMO move 2/3 (Miller, Boeser, Horvat), and Meyers to reload on young talent. 4/4 if you can negotiate some high upside returns.

Roy would be a good placeholder.  I would not give up on Hoagie or Rathbone though. Id focus on draft picks for Roy similar to how Avs landed Toews.

Ive changed my tune on Poolman. I really liked his game and maybe with Boudreau’s better overall style of play he could fit very well. Someone I keep if Meyers is moved.

Dickinson moveable but not absolutely necessary.

Highmore the tank version.

Sure I don't hate Highmore he's a beauty so is Biega. But if he's your 12th forward/6D you've got problems.

To be fair to Highmore he played above what I would have as reasonable expectations for him. That being said I can think of a bunch of players playing below expectations on similar contracts who would be better options.

Realistically Highmore as a 4th line winger is just plain wrong roster assembly. The same thought process as Gaudette as your 3c. He's a fine player but it's the wrong role. Is he a top 9? Where does he fit? Would be great if we could get a pick for him?

Wonder what JB's plan was?
