The problem here is most of these are "reported interest" which could very well be true even if it doesn't happen.

And of course they can't all happen... like we may have genuine interest in all those UFA forwards but obviously we can't fit them all.

well it may help which insider has a bit more credibility and see exactly how many end up being close or not close at all...

Why? We have multiple tabs for these kind of things and breaking articles from vintage when stuff does eventually happen. If anything, we should delete this to clear up space to avoid repetitive conversations and news articles.

why not?

You scratch off Malkin.  He isn't coming to the Canucks.

Having raked more than $116 million in career earnings, Malkin said in December that his next isn’t weighing on his mind.

"No, no, I'm not thinking about my contract. I'm not thinking about money. I'm, like, a pretty rich guy," Malkin said with a smile.

"I know it's a little bit not easy, but I want three, four more years. And I feel like I can."

Hextall reiterated on May 23 that “in a perfect world” Malkin retires a Penguin and that he would not place a timeline on an extension.

"I believe I am still a good player, and I believe good players sign good contracts. I hope we sign a good deal,” Malkin said at locker cleanout.

“I only can say right now I want to play, like, three or four years. Money is not a big deal, but I have family. I have parents. I want a good future for them."

Let's put an offseason Canucks rumor & trade fact checker and see how closely some of the insiders are to these rumored ('reported') names being thrown around in the media (any official sources/links or added names to this list in the coming weeks would be helpful and will be updated periodically):

Kuzmenko, UFA | Dhaliwal | outcome: pending

Miller, TRADE | various media | outcome: pending

Copp, UFA | Drance | outcome: pending

Mikheyev, UFA | Drance | outcome: pending

Lazar, UFA | Drance | outcome: pending

Rooney, UFA | Dhaliwal | outcome: pending

Pearson, TRADE | various media | outcome: pending

Dickinson, TRADE | various media | outcome: pending

Myers, TRADE | various media | outcome: pending

Devils OR Flyers 2022 1st round pick, TRADE | various media | outcome: pending

Zacha, TRADE | various media | outcome: pending

Letang, UFA | various media | outcome: pending

Malkin, UFA | various media | outcome: pending

Sanford, UFA | Dhaliwal | outcome: pending

Yeo (coaching staff) | Dhaliwal | outcome: pending

Like the idea.

If you are committed, I would remove “various media” with the actual insiders/articles.

Since you are calling it a fact checker.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him get it if he signs something reasonable, and for him and Sid to retire together the same year

Could take out Coop and it probably works, though at 35 years old, Letang had a career year.

Samuelsson could be added as well, as an assistant coach. I really like this idea.
