Didn’t Gillis win this for us?  Our best GM.  Two President trophy teams and very nearly the Cup.  Did Benning get one?

Yeah he won in 2010-2011. Second ever recipient of the award.

If Allvin can turn this team around in the next three years, he could be the second.

Benning will never get one even if he ends up being the Flyers GM in the next year hahahaha.

Pat Quinn?  Burke?  Gillis got lucky and got gifted one thanks to the groundwork done by the actually competent men that preceded him.  He then decided to destroy the franchise to the point we are only finally free this offseason from the damage that idiot caused.  He is easily the worst GM in the history of the franchise and in the bottom 5 all time.  There is a reason no team has hired that incompetent clown since he left.

On topic, it's gotta be Drury.

In all fairness Benning left Alvin and co more than Gillis left Benning

In all fairness Gillis built a team that won two Presidents’ trophies, got to game seven of the Cup, and were perennial contenders.  It as his job to trade assets for that purpose.  Benning was an idiot who couldn’t do anything right.  He is a blotch on our club’s history.  Our owner should get lashes for hiring him.

It’s the old win now vs building a good team he got the win now but ultimately fell short

Nah.

In all fairness, Gillis inherited a team that won two Presidents' trophies. It's his job to trade and develop players for the team. Gillis couldn't draft/develop players at all, given the massive amount of draft misses. Due to these misses, the Canucks tried to buy their way out of these lost years, namely the Player Name one, and THAT was a disaster.

For all the crap that Benning gets, Gillis sure gets a free pass for missing practically every single pick not named Horvat, Hutton, Connauton, or Hodgson. Four good picks in all the years of Gillis being GM. That's AWFUL.
