HKSR
To VAN: William Karlsson Nicolas Roy Zach Whitecloud 2nd Round Pick To VGK: JT Miller (50% retained) Tucker Poolman ($500k retained) VAN does this as they have a cost controlled 2C in Karlsson at only $5.9 AAV. Could likely find his sniping ability with a playmaker like Kuzmenko/Garland on his wings. Nic Roy makes the 3rd line a real nuisance to play against. A 3rd line of Pearson-Horvat-Roy is a heavy shutdown line that could put up offence too. Whitecloud is a very solid defensive RHD. Exactly what we need. Also get that 2nd round pick (48th OA). VGK does this as they shed over $4M in cap space. As Pacioretty's contract expires, they can re-sign Miller next year. Poolman plays the role that Whitecloud did. Sign a solid RHD like Lyubushkin as a UFA and we have: Podkolzin-Petey-Boeser Kuzmenko-Karlsson-Garland Pearson-Horvat-Roy Highmore-Lamikko-Dickinson Hughes-Lyubushkin OEL-Whitecloud Rathbone-Schenn Dermott 1
Popular Post King Heffy
We don't have the cap space to do this and we definitely shouldn't be doing something stupid like retaining salary on a long-term contract. 1 5

Well then how do you suggest going about that? We're still better off just burying Poolman in the minors if needed instead of handicapping the franchise for multiple seasons by retaining salary.

Apparently there's a market for 6'8" top 4 RHD with a mean streak... go figure. https://canucksarmy.com/2022/06/07/the-trade-market-for-canucks-d-tyler-myers-might-be-14-teams-bigger-than-we-thought/ Edited June 22, 2022 by HKSR

Popular Post DrJockitch
Karlsson had 35 points last year, how does he displace Bo. His contract is terrible and would want a first to even consider taking that god awful contract on. He has been getting worse quickly. I like adding Roy but no sense putting him on wing. Whitecloud is nice piece but depth D, bloated horrible contract on a guy with as many goals as Chiasson, a good 3rd line centre and a second are not worth Miller much less Miller with retention. 1 3
Fanuck
Allvin/JR can, and should be able to do better than this. We need young blue-chip roster players (a center and/or a RHD) and high picks in return for Miller. I still say there's deals to be made with a team like LA. They have virtually all of their picks (or someone else's) in every high round for the next three drafts and the have a log-jam of blue-chip RHD that won't all be able to play at the next level because there's no natural roster spot for them. I'm not against retaining on Miller since it's only for 1 year, especially if it facilitates us getting exactly what we need - but a hard no on retaining on players with any 'term' left. 2
Chickenspear
I'd do negotiating rights to Hunt and Chiasson for Roy. Otherwise, f*** 'em.

I really don't think any retention is nessicary. Myers is fine. Its better if we let him play out his contract than retain to move him. If a team offers a 2nd maybe consider it. But it would create a hole that if were easily filled a team wouldn't be offering a 2nd in the first place.

Exactly, old Karl was great but trending down so much.Whitecloud isn't light-years ahead of Poolman. These deals help vgk more than us.

Since his big year for VGK he has had 59, 46, 39 and 35 points. That is a player on a rapid decline not a player having a bad year. Goal scoring even worse from 43 down to 24,15, 14, 12. That is Player Name like decline. Edited June 22, 2022 by DrJockitch

hammertime
I think they have to pay the 1st for the 50% retention on Miller. We're trading a Power 100pt 1C over 50% in the dot who plays both special teams. For a whole lot of meh and we retain 50%
