Andrey Kuzmenko Highlights

Recommended Posts

It looks like Kuzmenko could add a lot of offence, and he looks fast. Not sure how his game will translate to the NHL, but it could really work out well. He looks like a player Hoglander should try to emulate. I can see him and Petey flying around making plays, but Boeser is too slow IMO. Maybe Podkolzin is the RW on that line and Boeser moves to Horvat's wing?

Maybe i am not a good judge/scout but his skating and edge work as far as top speed doesn't scream out high end to me.

Great hands and very keen to beat defenders,, holds the puck well and looks for options but the skating is a concern.

As I said maybe I am seeing it differently or a poor judge... I hope he proves me wrong.

I along with many others will be cheering him on

A hockey player can not deke players like in some of the highlights and not have good edge work. His speed is hard to judge, but to me looks like one of the fastest players in the highlights of players he is playing against.

Top speed isn't as important to me as being able to really stick handle and control the puck while navigating around/through defenders. We've had speedy guys who fly in with the puck and have so much momentum they end up doing laps with it and not much creativity comes into play. They almost get ahead of themselves.

I don't care how fast a guy attacks with the puck as long as he puts it in the net.

But as for edge work and skating? Did you see him come from behind the net with a defender hot on his heels and he navigated on one skate to get to a position to score in a wraparound? That's pretty good edge work in my opinion.

We shouldn't really judge until he gets here...I tend to not get too high (or low) on players because the NHL is a different deal.

Deb the bolded part in a nutshell. I never meant my comments to be negative. I am hoping he is a complete player. I just commented as to what I saw and I personally am still unsure on what type of player he is. All the dangles and leaving the keeper stranded probably wont happen in the NHL.

Well, I tend to think we have to wait and see before we make any "probably won't happen" comments, that's all. That's a bit negative.

But I do agree with the "unsure on what type of player he is" part and that we should pace ourselves with our expectations. It puts a lot of pressure on young guys and they don't always just slide into the NHL with ease...it sometimes takes a bit of time before they figure out how to adjust to this league.

@vancan2233 fair call. My reservations and reason for my comment is based in optics alone. I just see so many more players in the NHL playing with more speed and the defenders just eat them up or the goalies offer more resistance. I dont know how his game will translate. I honestly hope he makes my comments sound ridiculous.

Fair call, speculating on someone who hasn't had a chance to prove themselves is totally unfair. I really am exciting to see him get his shot in the league.
