I think he projects to be a solid middle 6F, but let's face it, if he steps right over from the K at 26 into a top line role on an NHL team, he needs to fire his agent...clearly he has left millions on the table by not coming sooner. I don't think he suddenly learned to be superstar at the NHL level this late in his pro career. Again, I hope he's the next Kaprizov, that would be amazing, but I think we need to temper our expectations a bit...this league is a LOT tougher than the K. Now, as for your signings and trades proposal...that's a lot of new faces to try to gel together quickly, it'll be tough. Also, I think some of the signings will be higher than this so that alone will put you into cap trouble. But also there are some performance bonuses (Kuzmenko and Martin at least) to be paid next year as well as some additional dead cap space (Holtby and Virt = 2.4mil)...these are the little details that keep coaches and capologists awake at night...when GM's play too close to the line and end up with an AHL roster in the last 2 weeks of the season just to stay under and miss the playoffs. I mean, here's hoping that we stay healthy all year, ain't gonna happen so there will be some cap relief there, but man it would suck to have to trade some players away at the TDL just to make cap by year end. Only teams he'd remotely consider doing that with is TB or Vegas. TB can't afford that so let's say Vegas. That's like us paying him 9 so it's within the realm of reason. But with us? Not a chance. Less the EP... and he's actually performed like a star the past 3 seasons, no slight on EP, he will get there but not going to happen...he's getting at least 45 million on his next deal. And that's on a team without the tax situation we have. We have to face reality. We are all hoping he signs a fair deal with us... a fair deal is Zibanejads plus a little minus the extra year or two. 9 x 6 would actually be a fair deal here, thankfully the cap will go up the final four years of his deal. I give zero F**ks about how many rounds you may win in the playoffs before being eliminated. If you don't win the cup it's a waisted season period. The above team would be humiliated by either of these finalist. The Canucks on paper right now are close. Problem is when one, two, or three (which happens), goes out with injury, we have an embarrassment for temporary replacements.... So what should we focus on??
