Albeit slightly younger. On the one hand, Mikheyev is more skilled, and significantly more fast (he's one of the fastest skaters in the league). On the other though, he's had difficulty staying healthy. It's true that Mikheyev may have a similar statistical impact as Pearson. But based on Rutherford's stated goal to make the Canucks younger and faster, he sounds like a player Vancouver will target. In fact, if they can get an asset in return for Pearson's contract (2nd or 3rd round pick?), and then sign Mikheyev for only slightly more money, that seems like a net positive for the team.
