Marino, Poulin and a 1st is probably better than whatever we'll get if Miller is traded.

Rumour now is that the Pens are looking to move a D man to clear cap and that nobody was biting on Marcus Pettersson.

They are listening to offers on Marino. Wonder what he would cost on his own without sending them Miller.

I’m sure Allvin and JR are gauging the price.

Garland in a straight up hockey trade?

That wouldn’t clear any cap for them though, it would actually add cap.

We would have to take someone like Zucker back in a trade from them for that to work. Maybe throw in Poulin as a sweetener?

We don't have the space to take a cap dump, and Poulin is their best prospect. Highly doubt they'd toss him in any deal to dump cap.

Pearson, Myers for Zucker, Marino saves them about 700k.

We do if we move a much more tradable Pearson. Only adds around 1.75 mil on our end.

The cost of dumping cap is high. If they wanna be players in free agency they have to pay. Poulin being their best prospect just highlights how bad their pool is. It’s a fair price considering cap dumps cost as much as a 1st.

Wow. Guess that takes the Pens out of the market for Miller. 4 years is a bit much term for a player of his age imo, but the cap is is friendly.

Fantastic news because the Pens didn’t have many good assets I even wanted for Miller and it takes another center off the market from teams like Washington, NYR, NJD, NYI, Carolina, Columbus, Colorado and even Boston whom all have more enticing packages they could offer.

But it needs to be taken into account that Poulin is likely to be in their lineup on an entry level deal within the next year or two. Having a projected impact player on an entry level contract in and of itself saves cap space.
