Pr3mo
Probably an over pay by Pittsburgh, i was on the fence about adding Poulin. What do you guys think? edit: Forgot to add we retain 15% on Miller Edited July 13, 2022 by Pr3mo 1
Drakrami
Been saying for a while pretty low chance Penguins trade Marino with us. Why would they add Miller just to lose their 2RD? Who do they play in place of Marino? Ruhwedel? They have no defensive depth to speak of.
NUCKER67
Scratch Marino off the wish list, there will be no Miller to PIT - they re-signed Malkin

Still could be a match, especially as we approach the 2023 TDL.

The Malkin signing obviously also has cap implications. Edited July 13, 2022 by kloubek
Ghostsof1915
The Ducks are $14 Million under the cap floor. That seems to be the best destination.

The Ducks are still in the middle of their rebuild. Unless they get a verbal agreement from Miller's camp that he would be interested in extending, can't see either side being interested. BigTramFan
Not a bad proposal imo. It works for PIT. They send $9.9m in cap OUT and only bring IN $7.75m. This puts them about $1.95m below the cap limit as of right now with 13 F, 8 D and 2 G signed. This would allow them to waive Archibald and offer Kapanen up to $2.8m AAV. And they would have a RD depth chart of Letang, Rutta, Poolman, Ruhwedel. Not bad. Also a decent return for Miller, but this deal would require VAN to make some more moves in order to clear cap space and to find a 3C. Bobby James
I think a deal like this with the Pens could work. They are very much in a win now situation and adding a top 6 forward like Miller that can play C or wing is very helpful. Malkin is amazing but injury prone, so it would not hurt to have a guy like Miller there too. We can take Zucker back for cap reasons to help the deal work out, but yeah Marino, a prospect and pick would need to come back to Van. Seems like a decent deal for both teams. BigTramFan
Been thinking about this one and wonder if this might work...it relies on VAN having a third team that can take on Zucker with some retention... Trade becomes: To VAN: Marino + Kapanen (rights) + Poulin + 2023 1st + Hallander + Zucker To PIT: Miller ($550k retained) + Pearson + Poolman Then VAN trades Zucker to ANA with $2m retained for 1 year along with a 5th round pick. Essentially this is Miller for Marino + Kapanen + Poulin + 1st; Pearson for Hallander; Zucker for Poolman Pearson waives to go to a contender, reunites with Carter. This clears Poolman from our roster (effectively at the cost of $2m retained for Zucker + 5th round pick) PIT lineup at exactly $82.5m becomes: Guentzel Crosby Rust Miller Geno Rakell Pearson Carter McGinn O'Connor Blueger Archibald (Caggiula) Dumoulin Letang Matheson Rutta Pettersson Poolman (Friedman Ruhwedel) Jarry (DeSmith) VAN adds Poulin, Hallander and 2023 1st to their prospect pool, and signs Jarnkrok for $2m as their 3C and the lineup becomes younger and faster: Mikheyev Pettersson Podkolzin Garland Horvat Boeser Kuzmenko Jarnkrok Kapanen Joshua Lazar Lammikko (Hoglander) OEL Marino Hughes Schenn Rathbone Myers (Dermott Burroughs) Demko (Martin)
