This involves ownership taking on risk/blame as well, especially when you're talking such a significant $ investment into a player for term. Perhaps they chose to take the bet and see what damage they could do in the playoffs and simply lost out on the gamble that it would be enough to convince JG to stay. Regardless, goes to show you that some playoff success doesn't necessarily translate to being able to retain star players. I say that, but still am concerned about our window with our young group and wanting to get them as much playoff experience as soon as possible, with hopes it serves as reason for them to commit to the future with this club. Perhaps it ends up being meaningless, but it would at least be encouraging for other players to come here who may be wanting to compete. I guess if we end up having to revamp in the future, so be it.
