BureBurrito
Reported yesterday... I have a feeling Rodriguez might sign if they can get him on a discount and Ronning on a AHL contract. Steel could be had on the 3rd/4th line depending on which current winger they plan to ship out for cap space (Steel could come in cheap) Edited July 14, 2022 by BureBurrito
Odd.
We have no cap room for Rodriguez. We can maybe afford another $1M signing with the LTIR factored in but we are up to the cap. Management must shed cap. Dump Pearson for future considerations. Look to rehome another contract such as Poolman. Cannot stress this enough.
timberz21
Steel had difficulties establishing himself on a weak Ducks team. Not sure he's bottom 6 material either. Plus as someone mentioned yesterday, I wouldn't touch him with a 10th foot pole until the 2018 Hockey Canada situation is resolved, especially now that the investigation is reopened. Bure_Pavel
Somethings gotta give tho as we are negative cap, I believe we have to be cap compliant by a certain time before we use Ferland's LTIR value.
EddieVedder
Yes to all 3. Steel could turn into a gem. Rodrigues does everything well and plays hella hard
DownUndaCanuck
Surprised someone hasn't overpaid Rodriguez yet but he is quite small. We must have some big moves in the pipeline if we're still thinking of adding UFAs. I'd rather sign Tierney to be honest, no more than 2.5M now. If we end up keeping Miller this off-season we might be wiser to roll 3 scoring lines because we're struggling to find a checking center.
NUCKER67
They're going to have to make some trades to get rid of some cap, because there is no money to sign anybody. And shouldn't they be focusing on the D?

Take this with a massive heap of salt. But I'm fortunate enough to get to talk to someone frequently enough that's got an in with the ducks. We were actually having a talk about Steel a few weeks back, and he said his guy said (this is why anything I'm saying right now is a massive heap of salt) Steel has been putting in a massive amount of work trying to round out his game but had lost momentum in Cali. Sounded like he may have been coming to terms of his way to carve out an NHL career and wanted to do it. Based off my second hand knowledge, he is 100% a guy I would take a flyer on at the right price.
BCNate
I think Rodrigues will end up here once we move out a few contracts. He would be a real nice fit.
smithers joe
garland for marino maybe?
King Heffy
Steel could be a nice reclamation project similar to Wellwood under AV. He's a pretty smart player. However, he was part of that Team Canada and I'd want to be sure he's not one of the 8 before I'd support bringing him in.

48MPHSlapShot
We do need a proper a proper 3C, and Rodriguez fits the bill. It's a damn shame about that pesky cap, though. 1
BigTramFan
Depending on who we put on the roster and who we waive to AHL, we have about $1.7m in cap space without any trades. That should be enough for Rodrigues or Steel. Rodrigues would be a useful versatile player. Can play 3C, 2RW, 4RW, 4C. Fast and good skills. Ghostsof1915
Maybe we'll do the Tampa thing. And players will be injured, and magically recover in time for the playoffs?

We cannot afford to have our best players injured, otherwise we won't make the playoffs and won't have anything to come back to.

Besides the fact that Tampa can still get to the playoffs while missing Kucherov. Any player Vancouver puts on injured reserve with a high enough salary to be useful would most likely cause us to miss the playoffs again lol. Rabbit
We need to trade JT, Myers or Garland for making some cap room.
brownky
Checking in - doing due diligence. Something I'd expect any decent GM to be doing. Find what they want. See if it works. Circle back in a month if they're still unsigned and see if they'll come cheaper. It's like selling a table on facebook.
