2023 NHL Entry Draft

Well, if it's really that obvious then I'm sure he'll be drafted a lot earlier than expected. Keep in mind 5 of his points this tournament came against Norway, who should have never been there if not for Russia and Belarus being banned.

That said, it seems like a lot of people around here have been jumping on the Moore bandwagon lately. Personally I think I prefer Perreault to Moore.

Didn’t Perrault pass Austin Mathew’s scoring record for an American born player? Not all Norway points

I've been a big fan of Leonard and Dvorsky, so I put them in a tier of their own.  I would lean towards Leonard because of personal bias, but would be very happy with the DD.

Tier 1

Leonard

Dvorsky

------------------------------

Sandin-Pellikka

Danielson

Moore

Perreault

Barlow

Cristall

Couldn't agree more about the top two. For me there's the big four, and then Dvorsky and Leonard are right there in the mix with Will Smith and Zach Benson. One other guy I'm really tempted to include in that tier is Mikhail Gulyayev. Really unfortunate we haven't been able to see him in best on best play in his age group at international tournaments. Not that I think he'll actually go that early due to the Russian factor, but I always try to ignore those kinds of factors and do my rankings purely on long-term upside (I also still have Michkov second overall).

Yeah but its not just this tournament, his 125 points in 59 games and +72 with the US National U18 team, the NHL bloodlines, he has been effectively adding mass in the gym, and he has been hounding guys on the forecheck and backcheck while being disciplined. I think some team grabs him around 20 and are really happy down the road.

Right but for all the reasons you're listing, I'm starting to find it pretty unlikely he makes it to 20. I've had him mid-to-late teens for a while now, but wouldn't be surprised to see him go inside the top 15.

Yeah 10-20 is a bit of a crap shoot, most scouting sources Ive seen have Perrault as the 4th fiddle after Smith, Leonard, and Moore. Smaller scoring wingers have dropped in the past so will be interesting to see on draft day, as there is always surprises.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed

He's been doing this all year though, breaking records and dominating tournaments at every turn. What suddenly changed now that he broke the record or is having another monster tournament?

I haven't been that impressed with Cristall. He doesn't make my Top 15.

Say you're the Blues at pick 25 or 27 and Cristall is still on the board, would you draft him knowing you've already picked a great player with the 10th pick?

Does he even drop that far?

I think Perreault is making people change their minds. There's no mystery to why he's consistently put up big numbers.

At some point we have to stop ignoring his numbers.

For whatever reason Michkov drops.

The Canucks are up next and have to choose between REINBACHER and MICHKOV.

Take the D and run.

Michkov is the best player in the draft not named Bedard.  Unless he turns out to be a Nazi supporter in the interview process, take him and figure out a way to get out of the hellhole he's living in.

If by some miracle he's available at #11 then yeah. But he's moved up so fast lately.

Well Mackenzie has him at #20 and Button even later than that.  Both have ASP as the top dman

I'm well aware of the records. Do you have a point?

Kinda shaping up that Gabe Perreault will be the steal of this draft.

My point was that Bure_Pavel mentioned that Perrault could be the steal of the draft and you replied saying that 5 of his points came against Norway.

you downplayed his production against a poor opponent and my point was that he has had success all season (breaking Matthew’s record) and one game against Norway doesn’t play a factor in the grand scheme of things and shouldn’t have been part of your argument towards Bure_Pavel

Dvorsky feasting on Germany. Was a better game than expected Germany got up 4-2 until Slovaks turned it on in the 3rd as they do.

Yeah big game for him, down 4-2 to Germany scores a natural hat trick to keep them in the tournament.

Now they likely play Finland instead of USA as well in the QF
