For forwards, the one name I haven't seen much discussion about is Gabe Perreault

Perreault could be a sneaky great pick. Skilled and so smart, although on the smaller side. Never know, if he grows a few more inches and puts on more muscle weight, he could be a very good NHLer.

I'm very happy to see that Honzek isn't getting shafted in rankings lately. I think he might be the Mo Seider of this draft, in the sense that he's a freak of nature with pro swagger and, possibly, an understated offensive game (even for a forward). I wouldn't put it past a team like Detroit or St. Louis to select him. He's going to be a beast in this league for many years.

It says a lot about him that he has vaulted into the top-10 of Bob's list.

This could be the guy Allvin is willing to trade up for, to make sure VAN gets him. I find it a bit interesting that Simashev was barely a 1st rounder and now he's being talked about as the possible best D in the draft. Watchung video of Simashev though, he dominates with his size and speed.

I’m not buying the trade up smoke screen, his body language when he said that makes me think he’s going to do the opposite and trade down,

By moving OEL they have more leverage that they don’t need to Move Garland.

If Chicago is desperate to move up, by moving OEL they could squeeze an additional pick out of them

to Chicago- 11th overall, Garland

To Van: 19th overall , 35th, 55th

Never trust anything a GM says in press conference unless it was Benning, he wasn’t subtle enough to not be transparent.

I still doubt they trade down. It eliminates so much possibility that they won't get the C/D they covet, whether we're talking about guys like Willander or Danielson.

I'm not sure if I would do this. That's too big of a drop from 11 to 19th. Plus Garland shouldn't be an added on here unless we view him as a cap dump. That shouldn't be the case anymore after the OEL buyout.

If there's only team we should trade down with it would be Nashville at 15th in my opinion.

Regardless of OEL they still need to trade a winger. Yes to a cap dump money can go to a defenceman

One of Simashev or Willander will be great. But I feel there's a good chance someone might snag Simashev before us.

I'm actually a bit torn if we have to pick between the 2. Interested to hear what everyone here think if it's down to the 2 of them.

Said it a while back, but Simashev is the #1 D on my board.

I had the same reaction about Allvin.  He did not give anything away about draft strategy. If you might make a trade on draft day you don't to reveal your preferences in advance. So, yeah, we might take a Russian. We might move up, (or we might move down). Allvin is just playing his cards close to his chest. I think the only real information we have about Canuck draft preferences is the dinner invitations with prospects: Danielson, Wood, Barlow, Benson, and Willander. Dinner openings are scarce enough that the team would not waste them on a deception exercise. So we know the Canucks are looking seriously at these five guys.

This group suggests that the Canucks are thinking of moving down, not up, as it is quite possible that 3 or 4 of those guys are still on the board when the Canucks pick so they could down and still expect to get one of them. The only one of those guys who is a near consensus to go before 11 is Benson, so it is possible that the Canucks are thinking of moving up a few spots to take him.

I do agree we probably should still move a winger to get more cap flexibility, just maybe not through this trade down scenario.

Not many team in the top ten would pick him

definitely not top 5

Arizona- No

Philly- need center

Washington- doubt it want center RHD

Detroit- stacked with LHD

St Louis- Generally draft North American players

I would think Reinbacher would go to one of the above if they wanted a D

IMO he's better than Cristal Benson.
