Well.. that's the thing.. the NHL economic landscape has changed so much... some years ago, Heinen would have been warranted the $3M he asked for... 

 

But fast forward to today, we still see some iffy contracts like a pure defensive D-man like a young Luke Schenn could get like $4M+ a year... I guess every GM does things differently...
