Popular Post nameci
To Chicago: Nils Hoglander ($832 000 x 2) Jason Dickinson ($2 650 000 x 2) 2023 3rd Pick To Vancouver: Connor Murphy ($4 400 000 x 3) Chicago receives a promising young player in Hoglander with an attractive cap hit, a third round pick in next year’s draft, and a cap dump in Dickinson. The team also gets just under a million dollars of cap relief. Vancouver receives a 6’4” 212 rhd, cost controlled for three more seasons, defence first defenceman capable of playing 22 minutes per game (21:46 last season). Murphy will be 32 years old when his contract expires, so there should be no drop off towards the end of his contract. He has the potential to be a solid partner for the offensively gifted QH. Vancouver also rids themselves of Dickinson’s contract and avoids any potential Boudreau/Hoglander issues. The additional cap hit to the Canucks is $918 000 as a result of this trade 1 4

The guy who was stretchered off the ice in March? I'd rather not do this trade if it's all the same.... 2 1 1
Nucker 67
Whew! I thought you were going to suggest a trade with CGY to get Tanev back. Not a bad idea, but is Murphy a top pairing (or Top 4) Dman? I know he was the #2RD in CHI, but that was CHI.
Elias Pettersson
Connor Murphy isn't much better than Tucker Poolman when both are fully healthy... 1
King Heffy
Pretty good value. I like Hoglander but Boudreau doesn't for some reason, and getting rid of Dickinson is a huge win.
nameci
Yes, that’s exactly what I am saying. So we will agree to disagree and your response was much more pleasant than some I have seen on this site. I think it’s time to turn some of our depth at forward into assets for the d corps. I also like the idea of dumping Dickinson’s contract and Murphy would have to pass a physical before the trade was finalized.
48MPHSlapShot
The concussion issues probably make this a no go, but man, if he were healthy I'd go for it. Big boy that eats 20+ hard minutes a night, throws his weight around and blocks a lot of shots.
VegasCanuck
My biggest issue is, he hasn't managed to play more than 2/3rds of a season, 3 of the last 4 years. I like the size etc, but I think there are better targets out there.

The reason Murphy has a concussion is he was expected to carry the puck.........that is when the big hits happen, which cause the concussions As Hughes partner, Hughes will be the guy with the puck, so maybe it would be much like Tanev's last year, where he had no concussions..........?

VegasCanuck
I've said before in other threads, New Jersey is our perfect trade partner. We have the means to upgrade their offense, they have the means to upgrade our defense.
Kobayashi Maru
Severson is the future partner for Quinn. Just a matter of when. 1 1 1
Bobby James
I don't mind the player, but the injuries are a concern for me. Also I don't love moving Hoglander for this. I wonder if Chicago would want DiPetro or Woo instead. I think Mayfield from NYI would honestly be a target Vancouver should look at. Big boy, cheap for another year and the Isles need offense and have too many top 4 Dman.
kloubek
Moving Hoglander right now will almost certainly not get us the value we deserve for a player with his skills. I have a feeling he will play well enough during training camp that we will have no choice but to put him in the lineup, and after that point perhaps he will have increased his value that it becomes worth the risk to move him. I'm still of the camp that says he has a 2nd line floor and a 1st line ceiling. Of course, trading Dickinson is a useful move from a cap perspective, and he almost certainly holds negative value, so we gotta sweeten it for them if such a move was made. I'd sooner move a player who has established himself so we get full value out of it. As others have said, I am also squeamish about his injuries over the last several seasons - although when healthy I do think he would be a good fit with Hughes. Must have felt the overall impact was not quite worth it.
48MPHSlapShot
I don't know the player all that well, but taking a look at Lyubushkin's numbers, deployment, corsi, etc etc etc...I'm not seeing anything their that tells me he's the answer to our problems. Is he really much of an upgrade on Poolman?
