[Signing] Flames re-sign Oliver Kylington

Recommended Posts

His D partner really made him look good, went from bust to promising young player pretty quick.

No idea who that guy is but perhaps we should think about targeting him? I hear he's a warrior RHD DFD which is kind of exactly what we need right now to pair with Hughes.

It'll be tough though, usually teams don't just give guys like that away, especially not to a rival.

Pretty sure Kylington is a lefty who can play or even prefer the right side.  Wouldn't mind the Canucks adding him (not considering cap issues), but I feel like someone like Dermott is a similar player (albeit with different playstyles) without the benefit of having had a "breakout" year (last season for Kylington).

Not talking about adding Kylington. :emot-parrot:

The one that got injured again and they bowed out of the playoffs?

He was also a major reason why they got there in the first place and his absence was a major reason for why we haven't the last couple years.

Does it matter if he gets hurt and they’re out in 5? Thought you wanted a championship team and not one that’s happy making the playoffs?

Tanev's absence wasn't the only reason they lost, and if it was it just illustrates even more how important he is.

Fact is we were a much better team with him on the roster even if it was 60 games every season and the Flames are a much better team when he's in the lineup, which he has been for most of the 2 seasons he's been with them.

Not to mention how important he was off the ice to our team, as well.

And he’s always injured come playoff time or long before it. Nice job dodging the question too.

He played all the playoff games for the Canucks, previous management just didn't give him many opportunities on that front.

And yes it matters. I'll take Tanev for 60 games in the regular season over any RD we have right now for 82, and it's not close, especially when you consider cap hits.

At his salary and health history Calgary can have him at term. You’re still dodging the question btw.

Again, he played all the playoff games possible for us and he got hurt once in the two seasons with Calgary, which isn't much.

I wouldn't be worried about it.

playing hurt and being injured are nearly the same thing, Tanev easily played 40-50 percent of our playoff games injured. He’s far to banged up to push the needle come playoff time and only getting older.

And no, you’re still dodging the question, do you want a championship team or a team that is happy just making the playoffs?

I'll answer for him. no, it doesnt matter. if a guy gets hurt by laying his bag on the line for your team for the 500th time that year, you sure as hell don't fault him for it. you do your goddamn best to have a next man up attitude and go out and win one for him.

I'd take 6 chris tanevs on my team, complete with injuries.
