The 1 year was signed mere minutes before the start of their arbitration hearing. Once a hearing is underway, they can no longer agree on a deal (was changed as part of the 2020 CBA MOU). They offered him a long term deal. At the draft Fitzgerald said they made him a significant long term offer and mentioned both owners by name to indicate how committed they were to extending him - they see him as a core player. He even brushed aways concerns that negotiations would be complicated - he missed camp last time as they couldn't agree on a deal. No idea where their offer was at - might have been too low or he wants to test the market. The cap is expected to increase significantly once the escrow balance is paid back - normally after 2024/25 but some believe it could be already by the end of 2023/24. He's 2 years to UFA - ie at the end of 2023/24. Edited August 3, 2022 by mll 4

Bratt probably wanted something similar considering their stats are not that far off of each other. i'm just guessing.
BPA
Bratt was averaging 30pts until last year he exploded with 70pts. 1yr deal to see if it was just a fluke or if he has really arrived as a near ppg. 1

As much as I hate the Bruins, I admire that their top guys set a ceiling on internal salary expectations and they were able to ice a super competitive team for a decade. 1

Odd.
Show us it wasn’t just a fluke. Kinda like Mangispane

Both guys were 30pt players until last year that they turned it up a notch. But I think Bratt is worth more as he’s 2yr younger and put about 20 more pts.

Mangiapane has been a consistent 20+ goals scorer (on pace) for the past 3 seasons.
