They’re projected cap hit right now is minus $6.031m, without LTIR. Still have to resign McLeod and get one or two depth forwards unless they bring up from the minors. With those 2 on LTIR they will only have $300k in cap space with only 20 players on their roster and that's without McLeod. They are going to have to get rid of someone on a large-ish contract in order to ice a minimum 22-man roster. Vegas and Florida are in a similar place right now too. The Oilers could opt to carry less than the maximum number of players giving them room to keep all players and build up their cap space over the season.
