[Signing] Oilers re-sign Kailer Yamamoto

The Oilers could opt to carry less than the maximum number of players giving them room to keep all players and build up their cap space over the season.

A 20-man roster would be a very risky way to play during the season. Basically no injury cover at all, except a backup goalie.

21 right now, if I’m counting it right.

Currently 11 F + 7 D + 2 G = 20

They could waive Broberg and bring up Holloway in order to have a complete team, they'd be cap compliant, but its still just 12F + 6D + 2G = 20

Gotta imagine they are doing their best to move either Foegle or Barrie

12 forwards, 7 Dmen, 2 goalies.

21 roster players.

Our discrepancy is the dmen.

I believe these are their dmen under contract for the next season.

Nurse, Barrie, Ceci, Kulak, Koekkoek, Bouchard, Broberg.

Yes 7 Dmen, but only 11 forwards listed on their roster. McLeod is not signed...

Phew. Yeah so they are in a pickle if they can't move out some cap. Hope it costs them a lot!!!

I think their crapologists will sort it out.

Your point about Foegle or Barrie may be the way they go.

They certainly don’t need to move anyone major. Just enough to add two small contracts.

We know way too much about other teams’ situations and less about our own.

This is Nuck life.

Yep. But I can't see any team really wanting Foegle or Barrie. They both have 2 years left.

They’re on the cusp of being a legit contender.

They can move assets, including picks and/or prospects, to dump salary and trade for cheaper bottom tier regular playing options on the 4th line or depth D.

This is the Oiler’s window. It’s all in at this point.

Agree this is their window. Don't agree they are a legit contender (or on the cusp) due to their lack of depth. Hope I'm right!!! haha

They have the forwards. 2 of the best in the entire league.

Decent top 4 Dmen. Not the greatest but decent.

Better goalie than last season.

I think they’re a contender moreso because they can easily outscore theor defensive deficiencies and also get pretty decent goaltending.

I would put it out there that EDM wins the Pacific and is top 4 in the Western Conference when the regular season is said and done.

Just my humble opinion in the off season
