[Proposal] Vancouver - Minnesota

Recommended Posts

Before anyone starts no, this isn’t your typical Canucks-Wild trade proposal involving your usual suspects like Boeser, Miller, Dumba etc. This is based around two guys who haven’t quite gotten a fair shake yet or fit in well enough on their respective teams. It’s a young player for young player deal that I think could benefit both teams nicely.

To Vancouver:

Calen Addison

To Minnesota:

Nils Höglander

Both guys are on the smaller side but fill a need each team has.

Interesting idea; I don't know their depth wingers behind Kirill/ Zuccarello/ Foligno/ Greenway/ Boldy all that well, but if Hoglander can earn that 3rd line wing spot opposite Boldy he could have a good season.  Addison's pretty small as a defender but I'd be open to adding him to the talent pool available and see if he could become something useful (would wonder if Minnesota might try to package him and probably another asset for a center, but if they would do this trade I'd be down).  An alternative would be buying low on Jost and seeing if he could rediscover his 3rd C form here, but Addison is a good idea too for another position of need in RD.

I say no because it's Hoglander. If he is given a chance, I still feel he will succeed. And because I don't feel a flyer on an offensive but undersized player is going to get any better than Rathbone. If we add to the defensive group, it's gotta be with the mind of finding Hughes his partner.
