NYI needs cap to sign Kadri. Trading Varlamov to VGK solves both teams issues. Leaves NYI with Sorokin as their starter and someone will need to be brought in as a backup. Cap lined up perfectly and Varlamov is UFA just in time for Lehner to come back next year.

I see this happening and NYI going after one of SJ goalies as they have Reimer, Hill and Kahkonen right now. Goalie carousel isn't over yet.

Earlier in the summer Lamoriello said he wasn't going to trade Varlamov.  Given how difficult it's been to clear cap space and if they are indeed trying to sign Kadri maybe he revisits his position.  NYI would then be left without a reliable backup though and they have playoff ambitions.  Not sure they would want to weaken their goaltending.

Looks good on Vegas and how they treated MAF. This is on DeBoer in my opinion. He just didn't care for MAF and put his money behind Lehner for some stupid reason.

and then threw Lehner under the bus.  Lehner got pretty upset and some even wondered if it wouldn't end up in a trade.  DeBoer was then fired.

Smith for Bobrovsky and a sweetener could make sense.

They would need to have Florida retain at least 50% of Bobrovsky's salary. Vegas sees themselves as a cup contender (doubtful the way the team is being run right now, no depth) and so does Florida. Would the Panthers consider retaining 50% of a 10 million contract for 4 whole years? That's a lot of cap space to tie up.

Assuming Lehner comes back the following season, they would be right back in the same problem of having 2 goalies making too much money.

Smith going back and Lehner going on LTIR covers Bobrovsky's cap this season.  Vegas isn't in the habit of thinking ahead more than one year.

Very true! lol

Remember though, Bobrovsky was their go to guy most of last year and through the playoffs. Are they ready to move him yet, and if so, Does Vegas want to further diminish their top 6?

You know your goaltending situation is bad when you go to your CapFriendly page (https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/goldenknights) and don't see a section for "Goalies" lmao!

I thought you were kidding at first, but then I went to check just for sh*ts and giggles and it's true...

Both of their goalies are on LTIR...

LTIR is bad!  :picard::ph34r::lol:

You think they want to lose their starting goalie?

Vancouver can go as high as 86M with Ferland on LTIR but Ferland can't play -  the rest of the roster is still at most 82.5M ie 86M less Ferland's 3.5M.  It's the same for Vegas. The 12.8M are on both sides of the equation.  Lehner and Weber count against the cap but they can also exceed the cap by their cap hit - the regular roster for the season will still have to be under 82.5M.

Hahahahhaha this just made my off season. These entitled little weasles are finally seeing the other side of the gifted sunshine and rainbow start to their franchise. They deserve every single ounce plus more of this. Eichal is a cancer, Patches said there is zero accountability in that franchise. Nobody pushes you to be better. Just this pathetic country club I'm the best mindset over there. Lmfao. Laaaaterrrr beeeeeeeaaaacchhhh:towel:

Why is nobody talking about Vegas medical staff?

This is the second player from that team to realize that they need surgery a few weeks before the start of the season. Weird.

Who else had surgery?
