dm_ranger
That seems like a great deal. 1.5 million for a 3rd line center. Could play up if needed. Nice work.

NC is a nice area with tax rates still rather favorable. Then factor in a good team with one of the best coaches and voila. Provost
It is a little sad because hockey is such a nothing sport there and isn't appreciated. I went to a huge sportswear store at a mall in Winston-Salem a couple years ago and they had one set of Hurricanes T Shirts tucked in the very back and that was it. They had every college team's jerseys from hundreds of miles around as well as their major sports teams from the region. Hockey was a non existent entity there. 3
Warhippy
Carolina vs Florida vs Tampa again this year. Outlier being New York, Toronto; Boston and Washington. Bubble being CBJ, NYI and NJ A lot of teams need to make up serious ground to compete against the big 3 now

Signing Stastny must free them up to trade us Necas, Morrow and a first for Miller! 1
DownUndaCanuck
Players seem to be playing longer and longer in the current NHL, maybe it's not as physically taxing and more speed-based compared to 5-10 years ago. He's 36 and dropped 20+ goals last year, still a great 3C on a team full of good young centers. He may even end up as their 4C. The Canucks could have really used a signing like this. RakuRaku
That's the guy I was hoping we would sign for our 3C!! totally affordable... great experience and still got some gas left in the tank to provide offense especially when we're likely to deal JT Miller sometime between now and TDL... We'd rather cripple our team paying 38 yr olds $8+, than signing former stars (like Statsny or Bergeron etc) for much much less

Most players aren’t playing longer at all. There are a select few higher end players who can still be useful into their mid 30’s. Excepting the shortened Covid years where there weren’t late season AHL call ups to lower the average age… the league has been getting younger for quite some time. The average age peaked around 2006-2008 and then has been dropping.

-AJ-
Cheap deal--going for a cup I presume. Surprised there are no performances bonuses, considering he's in that age range and it's a 1-year deal.
