I think we look a lot like the Pens team... without Crosby obviously, but they con't come along often, so... Sure but Malkin and Stall...still way better. The Pens comparable is so bad. I didn't see it coming. Media is already showing how salty they are with the Canucks for being tight lipped. Fired all their sources lol. Nice to see things just happen though

We do it too but it's funny how the natural reaction to another team signing a guy to a deal all teams have is to just crap all over it Sure....But honestly it has it's pros and cons. This site is a little homer for sure. I think it's highway robbery for 3 years. After that we'll find out but anything can happen between now and then. Popular Post KyGuy123
Miller isn’t the move to hurt this team at all, and it’s not even close. The OEL/Garland trade where we traded a top 9 pick and our second rounder last draft is the real killer. A lot of people are complaining about the off-season and lack of a change on defence that was talked about in the pressers from JR and PA. If we had just let the 3 salary dumps play out the last year of their contracts we would have had $12 million in cap space and two more top prospects in our system developing getting ready to join the team. New management probably saw how badly this set the team back as they are now not attaching assets like picks/players in order to stop gap fix the back end like promised or wanting too. They are keeping their picks and building depth along with salary control during RFA years with their draft capital and letting the contracts expire on their less desirable players. After this season the Holtby, Virtanen, Halak recapture is gone and Ferland is also off the books. Myers, Dickinson and Pearson will all have 1 year left on their contracts and a player like Myers who is only owed $1 million in salary but $6 million on the Cap is actually beneficial to teams like Arizona and Chicago who are trying to hit the Cap floor while spending as little as possible in order to do so, he will be an asset in that regard. Time is the only thing keeping this team away from being a perennial Playoff contender and to me it looks like by next offseason we will be able to do some major overhaul to the Defence and use Cap space to our advantage against teams who are looking to make it under. RWJC
28 minutes ago, Chris12345 said: Ha totally. I find "window" is an excuse. It puts bookends on a time frame. It's hilarious given a decade of sucking "entering a window". Like come on, just don't suck. I get what you’re saying but “windows” do exist. It’s the culmination of cap space, player development, coaching and timing mixed with luck. You can’t change any of that with a snap of the finger and expect it all to come together. fact of the matter is this club has made some poor decisions in the past, especially in the salary realm which has carried over into poor choices/limited selection in personnel, and a dismal coaching system. Those 3 categories combined define what you’re going to be able to accomplish in any given season. so yeah, in terms of where we sit now, we are actually entering a window of sorts…almost all our top end talent is locked down for the foreseeable future, within a couple years most of our dead cap/poor contracts will be off the books, and as well we will have opened up roster spots for players who can contribute and take a spot, rather than act as placeholders in a temporary role. You get all that in place, combined with effective coaching, and the ability to shift gears increases rapidly rather than incrementally. if we become a real threat, the door opens a bit wider too to attract other quality players. this is the year to prove we belong. Everyone's a hater while they have actual bad contracts while also being over the cap lol. Like any contract with term, Its risky. I wish they capped them at 6 as that's long enough for hockey imo 1

Chillax Canuck Nation Sorry, but I can’t agree with the notion that we would be able to “solve out defence problems had we waited one more season”. Perhaps we witnessed different free agents markets, but there were zero free agents that would have made a difference for Canucks defence this off season. And before you say “Klingberg” - sorry, he’s not an answer. 3
