[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller

Recommended Posts

Right, so for the sake of not having a conversation with ignorant people....

I'm really excited to see Miller for what could very well be the rest of his career. I remember a lot of people comparing what his contract would be to Zibenejad and we got him for even cheaper than that.

Re-signing him at this price was good thinking. As soon as the salary cap goes up, the top players in the league get to demand much higher salaries. If cap increases are expected next year, teams who have pending RFAs and UFAs are going to have to pony up a lot more than they would for the players that get signed this year.

Haha totally!!!!!

I liked that it was a total surprise.

Interesting it happened right after his wife had a kid. I would have thought he was busy lol!

I would say that the arrival of his baby was a key factor in his decision to sign long term.

That's a good point.  I remember the birth of my own son.  It completely changed me.  Things that once meant the world to me no longer mattered.  Things that I used to never think about were suddenly front and center in my life.

JT may have a totally different mindset this week than last week.

sn 650 insiders are trash

Especially Elliot Friedman who now I’m convinced made that draft day rumour all up for a story.  He said it would be impossible for the Canucks to sign Miller.  Maybe he’s just sad the Leafs weren’t able to trade their leftover scraps for him.  It felt like NHL teams thought they were still dealing with Benning and then were surprised to find out they weren’t dealing with a clown anymore.

Alf’s empties were saying 8.25 x 7 years was what we needed to get to to sign Miller.  Miller at 8 per is a friggin’ steal.  Marner and Tavares are at 11 per.    LOSER LEAFS!

That’s the reason I kinda hope none of our players become superstars and start demanding $11 mill.  Teams like the Oilers and Leafs are doomed to fail because their players weren’t willing to sacrifice for the team.  Miller is right when he says the goal of this team is to win a cup.  But you can only do that if the players buy in to that home town discount mindset.  Canucks will be able to role 3 top lines that few teams can match.
