Popular Post Googlie
Couldn't find any reference to this 3 month old signing Canucks Sign Filip Johansson To Two-Year, Entry Level Contract Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a two-year, entry level contract with defenceman Filip Johansson. "Filip plays a solid defensive game and has shown consistent improvement over the past three seasons." said Allvin. "He will continue to develop his game in Sweden with Frölunda next season, but we look forward to welcoming him to Vancouver for Development Camp at UBC next month." Johansson, 22, is coming off his second season with Frölunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), where he recorded 11 points (3-8-11), eight penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating. He also collected seven points (5-2-7) in nine playoff games, ranking t-1st on the team in goals (5) and co-leading Frölunda defencemen in points (7) to help the team reach the playoff semi-finals. In 132 career SHL games split between Frölunda HC and Leksands IF, Johansson has registered 26 points (11-15-26) and 34 penalty minutes. The Västerås, Sweden native has also represented his country multiple times during his career, highlighted by podium finishes at the 2016 World U-17 Hockey Challenge (gold), 2017 Hlinka Gretzky Cup (bronze), and 2018 IIHF World U18 Championship (bronze). The 6'1", 176-pound defenceman was originally selected by the Minnesota Wild in the first round, 24th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. 3

Googlie
Some thoughts and analysis on all 36 of the players at Vancouver Canucks development camp JULY 16, 2022, 7:00 AM | FABER With Vancouver Canucks development camp in the books, we decided to give some quick thoughts on each and every player that participated. We’ve seen a lot of questions in the comments section so here goes a dump of thoughts on each of the 36 prospects that attended Canucks development camp. Defencemen Filip Johansson Not a lot stuck out about Filip Johansson. There were probably a couple of days where I forgot he was even there to be honest
Phil_314
Would be great if he was that RD hidden gem we've been looking for; even a permanent 3rd pair option wouldn't be the worst, though of course we would hope for top-4 upside. Still, nothing wrong with a free prospect in a position of need, we need ammo to see what sticks in which roster spot.
Crabcakes
THG mentioned him in his review on the Canucks D Johansson was selected 24 OA in 2018 by Minnesota and he has played every year since in Sweden and will be there again next season. Worth taking a flyer on him. Nothing to lose

Filip Johansson: The Wild’s surprise first-round pick in 2018 has been uninspiring so far in his career. However, he is quite a talented defenseman and should be motivated to have a good season after a disappointing 2018-19 season in the Swedish Elite League. It's often when I do notice a defenseman on the ice, it ain't for a good reason.
WeneedLumme
His playoff stats look much better than his regular season stats. I wonder if he is a playoff warrior type. Here's hoping.

His contract is with the Canucks, so he is being loaned to his Swedish team (much like Palmu was, and Manukyan). Can be recalled any time to Vancouver (or Abbotsford) correction: Manukyan never signed a contract with the Canucks Edited September 5, 2022 by Googlie
