N7Nucks
I know I said this before about a many prospects. Both Canucks and not. But I try not to write someone's potential off too soon. He turned 23 a few days ago. Not old by any means. He can still become a special player. It'd help if they actually put a leadership type player on the blueline with him. The oldest quality blue liner they have is Chabot. So these kids gotta learn the sport almost by themselves. Love or hate Benning but I do appreciate the vets he brought in. The Beagles, even Gudbranson, and others. We don't want our kids just out there in the deep end without a guide. Cause it makes that learning curve more difficult. 1

But not at the term and aav those vets Benning signed tis all. 1

He's a top-4 LHD (second pair) on their team so he'll definitely get opportunities (behind Chabot, it's either him or Sanderson who'll get the most offensive opportunities since the right side is Hamonic/ Zub/ Zaitsev). $900k for that is good value.

Although I honestly didn't mind Beags at his AAV or term, it's an overpayment for sure but I dunno. With hindsight and seeing how brutal our PK was last season I think I'd rather have him at 3mil if it means we don't have an all time terrible PK at points last season. Lol.

The veterans played poorly and earned way too much money. There were plenty of other options who could've filled that leadership role without some 3x3M contract. I really think the 6x6 contract (arguably the worst $ for output contract ever signed in Canucks history) for Loui E really hamstrung the management team. That was a rough 5 years. Then you pile on the 3x3 contracts and we all saw the results...just a really poorly constructed team. The last 10 years has been sad. On a good note I am so pumped for this year. When does Hockey start? Im ready now

I was fine with Beagle, having one overplayed vet who actually fulfils their purpose is fine, especially as he was reliable to play the hard defensive minutes, and win critical face offs, so it was a very important role, not just positionnally but to protect the team. thenissue was all of the vets were basically overpaid. never had an issue with beagle.

I'm hoping to see Schenn paired with Rathbone this year, he was great for Hughes and I hope he can do the same thing for Rathbone, all at a very low salary. It can be done correctly.
